Thinking about installing the foam grips over my heated grips. Does anyone know if the heated grips are still effective through the foam grips?

In a word...yes. But not as hot as without them. Having said that, mine are still plenty warm.
No problem with heat. The benefits of comfort far outweigh the small amount of heating loss...... Jim
Agree with RICZ - have had them for a year now. I think my handlebars get too hot...without the foam grips. Get the grips you will not be disappointed.
Have had the foams over the heated grips since March… plenty heat getting through.
One of the first things I added to mine. At 30 Deg F I can't run them on high all the time.
If you assume that the low and high settings are 5 and 10 (on a scale of 10), with the foam grips intalled, you will have 3 and 7. Brings the high setting down to something you can still grip after 5 minutes, then switch to low and leave them there until Spring.
.
I noticed a difference where in colder weather, I can't use the low setting. I thought about removing them, but I don't do enough extreme cold weather riding to warrant losing the comfort of the grips.
I’ve had them for 3 years now and I’ve ridden in rain at 40 degrees and the heat level is fine. I didn’t think they would last this long but now they seem to have conformed to my hands.
What grips are these?
TIA
Got mine at Lamonster.

On the RT, with the 2 settings, it will work great. But with the 1, low setting on the F3 series, it will not be enough. I have them on my BMW, which has 5 settings and it works great also.
This is what I put on my 2021 Spyder RTL. Fit fine and heat comes through great.

Foam grips were one of the first things I did with my Spyder upon purchase in 2011. Never been without them, heated grips work great and when the going gets really tough, addition of ATV handlebar muffs permitted cold weather ryding, well what passes for cold in these parts.
Cheers, David
The amount of heat coming through also depends on the thickness of the foam for the grips. Grip Puppy works great with lots of heat, the big bike foam grips were to thick and I didn't get much heat through them.

Maybe try some Grip Buddies Lites. They worked well on my 800 Tiger..

I have those on my 16 RT-L and the heated grips work ok. Haven't had them long enough to tell how well they work but the heat did come through on high the last time I rode.Quote:
