Hi Ann,
Are you at liberty to give opinions on the new RT vs. your F3-T. Things like handling, comfort, feel of power(because of 79 tooth rear spocket vs. your 89t). Also I know your a manual trans fan, as am I. How do your like driving the semi auto? If you can't offer opinions publicly, I'd love a PM.
Thanks,
Mike
Are the already back in FL, thought they were in TX.
Hi Joe and Ann. Bought a new 2020 RTL Dark in Blue. Gabriel said to say hello. Are the dealers you are going to selling many bikes? Seminole Powersports was rocking. Tom :spyder:
The 2020 is definitely quicker and more responsive than the older RTs, I love the way it looks and the added storage and features like LED headlights are great.
I am tall and have long legs and it fits me much better than the older models with a stock seat. Yesterday I had to lead a ride and I was on a 19 RT and it quite frankly sucked! The new model has the longer floorboards and the brake pedal is now in a position where you can just move your foot over to use it unlike on the 13-19 where I had to pick up my foot to engage the brake.
We have had several couples on test rides and they all really like the added seat space. It’s not quite Goldwing room but it’s getting closer!
I still enjoy shifting so I won’t be getting rid of my manual transmission anytime soon but paddle shifting is nice. The only thing that bugs me about it is when it downshifts to 1st gear.
So your question was to compare the new RT to the F3. The RT is still a mid controls seating unlike the forward controls on an F3, and you don’t have the U-fit option for the brake like you do on an F3. Other than that, (which is huge if you are really short, really tall or have hip issues) the new RT is superior to the F3.
Sadly, they sold all they had! I wish they had more on hand. People love this thing!
Had a couple more SL folks show up! Kevin and Sylvia, whom we know from Washington state! So cool!
Had a guy named Gary come ride. When I looked at his drivers license, two things jumped out: Mora, MN, and Caswell. His brother owns the Can Am dealership there! We have lots of friends in common. Small world.
Joe,
It sure is a small world. We went on a test ride yesterday out of Masa, and the ride leader (who was from Minnesota, but now lives in Arizona) when I asked him if he was in Florida for training he said "How did I know that" I told him Joe and Ann. He than said "Of course".
Also I will be loaning out trailer to Frank so he can pick up a new to them Spyder that he told me you set him up with the seller. They are meeting in Texas on February 21.
Ann, thanks so much for your review of the new 2020 RT. We met at Spyderfever in Iowa in 2018. I had a F3 Daytona that you guys checked alignment on and it was one of the few Spyders that was in align. We talked than about our F3's with the manual trans. We both agreed we couldn't give up the manual or the handling of the F3. It is nice to hear your review, because I think we come from a similar perspective on Spyders(I'm tall too).
I found a used F3-T with 7600 miles and a rare manual trans this past fall so I traded off the Daytona. My wife and I do a lot of 2-up riding and it's going to be nice to have the rear air suspension and dash console for better windshield options. Haven't been able to put many miles on the T yet(we live in Minnesota), but I think I'm going to really like it. In the back of my mind I wondered if I should of waited for the 2020 RT. I think your review confirms my purchase. Maybe I'll be ready for the RT in a few years.
Les,
We met Mike in NorCal at the rally a couple of years ago. Nice guy. Glad you can help Frank out. They are great.
We are 1 of 5 teams in our division. There are 2 more divisions, one with 5 teams, and the Canada division has 3 teams. Different teams start at different times. Mike is western mountain team, West coast is Jeff and Billy, eastern mountains is Scott, Florida is Gabe and Cameron. We did not meet Mike or Scott ‘s partner. Great people!

Ok, does not have a belt tensioner.
The rear trunk on my 18 F3L has a LED light that comes on when the key is on. Is that normal?
Should be a running light. Step on the brake, see if it gets brighter. If not, the brake light is on, and there is a problem.
Here is a pic of the LED light in my 18 F3L trunk. Key has to be on.
Joe or someone who has done the conversion on the RT 622. Currently waiting for my Marsala 2020 RTLmited chrome to be built.
Keeping my RT622 trailer. I ordered this
to have trailer wiring converted so it will hook up right.
My question is did I order the right part?
Also for Los Angeles the experienced specialists will be giving test rides March 5th-7th:yes::2excited: I am all signed up
Heck even if I have my new one by then I will go to just learn more about the spyder :D
Should fit. The harness for the RT is the same as the F3T, and your hitch will fit. PM sent.
Key on, there is a light in the Frunk and a light in the trunk.
HI Guys
Just a quick suggestion.... DO NOT put any signs on the trailer, you should not advertise what is in the trailer
but you know that... I would hate to hear about some bad guys stealing it while you are in the hotel sleeping.
Congratulations on the new venture....Will I see you at SENA in November ?
Yes, will be at SEMA. Our trailer is a rolling billboard! Part of the marketing plan.
