40K miles so far - how many miles will a 1330 engine RT last?
In three years, I've put 40,000 miles on my Spyder, and I'd like to keep it running dependable for another 40-60K miles before I have to buy a new one.
I'd like to find out the experience of others in dependability and longevity after the first 40K miles for RT's with the 1330 engine.
Just traded the wife's 15 RT-S SE6 at 43+
on a 16 F3T. After a clean bill of health and a week on the dealer's floor, it's been sold to the new owner and going to be enjoyed for many more miles.:ohyea:
Haven't heard of any suspensions wearing out
Can't think of any other major systems on these bikes that I would anticipate wearing out if given a little care and preventive maintenance. As far as body and tupperware, they seem to hold together pretty well as the panels and attachment fittings carry over from the pre 2014 RT's and many of those have 100 K on them by now. An extra baggy of plastic rivets and some of the black screws and grommets should get you through 100K with no problem since now you only have service intervals every 9 K. Just be careful not to put too much torque on the little plastic tab screws and you should be good. I think I read 11 inch pounds once, but just snugged hand tight with a Torx 30 screw driver fitting (and a drop of blue locktite if you're so inclined) should do it.
2 year brake flushes keep the braking smooth, and I haven't heard of anyone wearing out a drive belt short of rock damage? YMMV.
