K fyi got oil change coming up soon, debating changing to full synthetic at time of change. With the amount of oil the 998 eats, would it end up more costly even if I get further in between changes? FYI have only been using the blended up to this point (52k miles)& know some engins can be temperamental about change. Thx In advance

Amsoil 10w40 Full Synthetic Metric Motorcycle oil worked well in our 998.
It is a matter of preference. If you go with a true full synthetic like Amsoil, you can likely extend your service interval out to 6,500 miles and still have better protection than using BRP's blended oil with a 4,500 mile service interval. Just one of the things I like about this is I never have to find a dealer somewhere to get my oil changed on a long trip. You will also likely use about 1 quart of additional oil over this distance. But this is certainly offset by an over 40% reduction in service intervals. Not to mention the time and additional filters saved.
In any case, it is a great idea to have your oil analyzed. The results may surprise you.
I recommend using Blackstone services. I have tried several and they are all accurate and reliable. But Blackstone really goes the extra mile. They are very thorough and helpful with follow-up questions, should you have any.

Synthetic-its just better I run Mobil 1 T4 in a 15 998 SST 13 k no useage.
Synthetic Motorcycle oil worked good.
Adding on to this with a related question...
When needed to top up, can I safely add full synthetic oil e.g. Valvoline 4T 10w40 or Shell Rotella T6 5w40 to Blended?
I have just over 4k miles on my 2016 ST-S...dropped it off at the dealer last week for the 4600 mile service and am pretty sure they'll drain and replace with Blended as per manual (XPS 4-stroke Synth Blend).
