Just removed the cat on my 2015 RT and replaced it with Tricled pipe...the three springs are a PIA to remove even with spring hooks...I said f` it and left the top one off...no leaking yet....will I regret it later?

I used a stout straight screwdriver - put the spring end on the shank and placed the tip in the loop and swung the screwdriver up and around. Bing, bang, boom.
i have dealt with these type of springs, but not on spyder yet. if there is room, try a needle nose vise grips to pull
You need a helper and piece of cord. Loop the cord through the hook on the spring and send it to the rear of the bike, have your helper wrap the cord around something sturdy like a wrench, they pull while you guide the spring in place. Joe and I do it that way and it works great. Good luck.
i stumbled on a really easy method for the top spring
do everything SyderAnn said,but instead of taking the cord out the back,i pass it over the rear shock lower boss....now wrap the cord around the wrench and you can lever off the bottom of the shock.....you then have a free hand to push the spring down(refitting spring)while the spring is pulled
almost zero effort required due to the leverage
