Thinking this may be a place to stay our first night they have camping ,cabins and hotel off exit 199mile marker fancy gap there are other hotels on that marker as well

I think you should be fine. I know that parts of the BRP (area around Mt. Mitchell) is closed right now due to rock slides. That is typical near the end of winter and start of spring due to freezing and thawing of water that runs down the rocks. As I said before, by the beginning of April and onward, most everything should be open. Have fun, and take lots of pictures.

You will enjoy the ride, we have rode it several times over the years ... If time permits, go to Maggie Valley, visit Wheels Thru Time Museum, well worth the time. We normally spend a week in Maggie Valley each year, doing day rides from there. I love those mountains !!!!! Great riding and great scenery !!! Enjoy !!!

You should have a wonderful time. I did hear that there was another rock slide in the area, so be aware that there may be parts of the BRP that could be closed. I will be in the area 4/25-29. Not sure what I will be taking. Either the spyder of the stang. Either way, it will be fun.
