The dps had came on the bike was in 5 but I got it to neutral. It still won't shift into first , dps light on and hard to turn. I have had DPS replaced already back in 2012. Is there anything else I can try besides buying another dps.

I have to agree with advice above. DPS and gear shifting are not normally related. I don't think they share any of the same fuses.
The most common reason a SE5 gets stuck in gear is because the shift lever fell off. Check for that. It's on the left side, just in front of the left foot peg. If it did fall off. Just put it back on and tighten up the pinch bolt.
:agree: Good luck: please let us know what you find!
Hi,
I have a 2009 GS SE5, I a bit confused about your message> The DPS is the " Power Steering Unit" which should of been replace on a safety recall back 2011/2012, if you have a check DPS going across the cluster display intermittently you need to check for codes.. But you mention (5) but finally got it to neutral, that is a TPS problem "Transmission Control Unit" do you have two separate problems?
In the case of the (TPS) the following can occur by getting in a hurry at start up not letting the bootup process completely finish before hitting the MOD switch. In which case you must shut the Spyder down and leave the key off until everything shuts off before trying a restart.
A lot of good answers here, one thing we ran into at the shop on these was bad throttle bodies. Look for code 1614 which is tripped when the T-Bodies are of issue.
Are you sure it's the DPS, and not the Gear position sensor? I had issues with my power steering wanting to cut in and out. Soon after the gear position sensor went out.
Sure would be nice if the OP would give us an update!
