Email Lamonster.com he may have your answers.
Question 1. I am not sure wear the DESS module is located on F3 spyder.
Question 2. Email Lamonster Garage and ask them if there is anyone closer or have them disable the DESS.
Question 3. Email Lamonster Garage for that answer.
What year is your F3 spyder?
Do you still have warranty/or B.E.S.T coverage on the spyder?
If you still have warranty /or B.E.S.T coverage on your spyder make an appointment with your can am dealership, have them open up a case with BRP and make sure that your can am dealership has the parts. Have your can am dealership run it thru the warranty or B.E.S.T.
Hope this helps.

2014 RTL I get the DESS error every once in awhile. I'll go a couple of months without one, then it'll pop up two or three days in a row. No rhyme or reason at all. Most of the time when it hits, I'll just turn off the key, and quickly turn it back on. Wet or dry, hot or cold, it doesn't matter. Never been stranded because of it, knock on wood!!
Once the DESS code appears ..... it is only a matter of time to When it WILL FAIL not IF it will fail. This part will not Heal itself .... and nothing you do will get the Spyder re-started - Period. ... 99.9 % of these DESS issues began in 2014 after some Dumb A** engineer decided to fix a part that wasn't Broken. Then they started to have issues, and it took a couple of years for BRP to get that part to function with better reliability. So if stay close to home and near a dealer and hope it takes less than 3 weeks to get it fixed, then don't worry about it ..... good luck .... Mike
If my ride had that problem ,It would be gutted out of my bike as fast as I could!! There always some one trying to reinventing the wheel and screwing it up with a flat side!!!!:banghead:
It's a 2015 F3S - it's not under warranty - which doesn't concern me because I do my own work anyway. Sometimes the homework to find the answers is harder than others though.
I laugh every time someone posts "just email Lamonster Garage for the answer" because I have already - with ZERO response. Which I've experienced several times before. I'll find a different source to answer my questions.
Mike - My response wasn't an attack on anyone here. Sorry if it came across that way. There's a wealth of knowledge in this thread (and others) and I've gleaned a ton form it - you replied to my questions above - but still left me with unanswered questions. I appreciate the input you did offer. I was just pointing out that many folks around here say just email Lamonster (not saying you said that) and the fact is, the few times I have, I've not gotten a response back from Lamonster. They have great products, and I may end up going out there for service (disable the DESS) - I'm just saying - I tried them - before asking here - and didn't get a response - which is why I asked here (a different source).
No ill intent meant. Have a great day!
My post #804 had No ill-intent either ! .... It was simply a statement ... no agenda ... no hidden meaning. I try to provide accurate , informative knowledge that I have acquired. .... I receive 100's of PM's and if I can assist, I do .... If I can't, I try and send them to someone who I'm pretty sure does have accurate info...... Have a better day :thumbup::thumbup:................... Mike :ohyea:
DESS module is on the frame near the battery. Service manual will show you how to access.
i do not know of anyone closer to Indianapolis that Lamont or Spyderpops.
Yes, if the DESS fails completely, it can still be disabled as long as you have the physical key to unlock the ignition and apply power to the ECM and instruments.
I too have left 4 or 5 email messages at different times with LaMonster and have never received a response yet. Even called a couple times and left a phone message and didn't get a call back, but I have called other times and was able to talk to someone and place my order. I guess they are pretty busy, especially this time of year.

This thread has a lot of excellent info.
As of today I haven't had the D.E.S.S issue.

I recently replaced the antenna on mine since the module was replace twice. Last year the DESS key popped up again. So since the Spyder was down for something else it was time to change the antenna. Now if it happens again. It will be disabled thru buds.

I wouldn't worry too much about closing the thread Deanna, this DESS thing does still come up every now and then, and probably will continue to do so until either every 2014-2016 Spyder ever made has had their DESS disabled; or BRP issues a voluntary recall to fix the problem at their expense  And since I don't see the mob in that hot place down below looking to buy themselves ice skates anytime soon.... :banghead: there's probably a valid reason to leave this thread active for some time to come!
Same with bumping it - it doesn't really hurt anyone to have the thread brought back to the top of the recent posts list every now and then, and who knows, it MIGHT actually help someone - just look at trikermutha's recent post some 9 months after your bump last year, and very likely only there as a result of your May this year bump reminding him the thread was here! So go ahead, bump away - just not weekly or even monthly please - not unless you've got something more to tell us! In fact, don't do it too often without actually adding something substantial please! :lecturef_smilie: Personally, I reckon a thread that's full of nothing more than pages on pages of 'bump' posts or similarly pointless 'empty posts' is actually worse than useless, cos all it does is tell readers the OP doesn't really care &/or have anything new to offer/tell us, but wants to stick it to us anyway - bleedin' worse than unsolicited 'cold callers' or junk mail/spam filling your inbox (or letter box, for those of us who still have them!) :gaah: But if there's an update on how things stand now; or even just info on how many people have approached you about how you resolved your DESS problems or something/anything like that - it only hasta be a snippet of worth while info, then the knowledge base is still growing and you are very likely helping by bumping the thread and keeping us all up to date on the current state of play! :ohyea: :2thumbs:
Over to you!
As long as there is still the 2014 _ 16 models on the road keep it open till it runs its course. Most cases the module takes care of the issue. In mine it did not . The bulletin says don't replace the ignition switch just the antenna if the module didn't take care of it. So that's what I did. I preferred to keep the security feature at this time.
