At the lowest point, the wind barely hits the top of my helmet.

MidLife,
Thanks for this info! since I'm also 5'10" "ish", you 've made shopping easier... ;)
Now all I need is some reports from the Co-Pilot's pillion to find out about the air back there...
Okay, after a short rest this afternoon I installed my new XL California Scientific windshield. I then went for a 'Quick' test ride by myself and could tell a big difference. Then when my wife got home I took her out for the ultimate test. On our Spyder and our Harley she has the final say as to what mods stay and which ones go.
I'm 6' 1" with a 32" inseam and Julie is 5' 6" tall. The OEM windshield is just okay but left much to be desired as far as buffeting and being quiet. My wife is used to riding in quiet comfort on the back of our Harley which has an 11" Long Rider Shield Ultra Curve windshield.
I started with the windshield completely lowered and she said there was not a lot of difference in the new one and the OEM one. I then started raising it a little at a time and when it was up about an inch or two she noticed a big difference. Much quieter and the buffeting was pretty much gone. When it was fully up she thought it was as quiet or maybe a lot quieter than the Harley. We took it out on the freeway and rode about 60 miles. At highway speeds we were able to hear the radio without having to crank it up where you are hearing mostly incomprehensible noise. Not the best audio but manageable without a lot of serious work.
So I am pleased with my purchase and I know my wife is also very pleased. And that my friends is the best approval man can get. ;)
I have also ordered another one that is a large as I think the XL is just a little bit too tall for me. So I may have a XL one for sale hear soon.

Carl, I read on their website, that they would trade you, if the size is incorrect. Not trying to take a deal away from anyone, but it does seem they would take the guess work out of the purchase, bu offering such a guarantee.

MLC, actually as soon as I placed my order for another one the owner called me and asked if there was a problem. When I explained to him what I was doing he was okay.
I was so impressed by his courtesy and his business ethics and that he would call that I was almost speechless. Great man to deal with.

This is going to be tough...
California Scientific, or Baja Ron???
I think that I need a nap...
I think I need one of these - probably a small. I'm 5'5 and at its lowest point, my stock windshield divides my vision line. Feels like I'm looking through bifocals.
if youre selling your XL please let me know
I am going to order one but will wait and take yours off your hands if you are going to sell it
Anyone had a "chance" to ride in the rain with it ?
...Ben...
:doorag:Think I need to start pimp'n Teddy out:doorag:
Tinted shorty. Have not taken it for a ride yet. I am 5'-7" and it still seems like I am going to be looking through it some.
On their sizing chart, they list various inches shorter than a "stock" shield. Since the stock shield size varied amongst RT model years does anyone know which model year RT they are using on their sizing chart? I'm 5' 8" and have the BRP sport windscreen currently which works well for me height wise. Fully down I can look comfortably over it and fully up, comfortably through it. I think there might be some value in the wider width as well as the vent but am not sure what size to get..thx
Stock on my 12 is 25. Shorty is 18. Did 125 miles or so in the wind today and it is great. A little more noise with it all the way down, but I expected that. I can see over it great and I don't notice anymore wind in the chest from the hole. Plus I think the tinted looks better.
I've got the 2010 "Barn door" model windshield...
At it's lowest positioning; It's just about trying to look through another set of bifocals! :gaah:
Ok, so the stock 11 & 12 screens are 25" high..The touring windshield I have is 23"..The large Calsci should be 22" high (it shows 3" shorter) and the XL should be 23.5 listed at 1.5" shorter. If you like looking over it while down and through it while up (rain and high speed). The L and XL seem to be the ones to choose from. I would think that the medium all the way up would be right at eye level which is not desirable for most.
It would depend on your height. The medium is nowhere near blocking my view at the lowest and looking through it at the highest position. The stock windshield on my 2010 was 27" high, so I wouldn't was always looking through it. I usually ride with it up 1" and it's perfect.
