Kuryakyn Pet Palace + Rivco Luggage Rack

I just bought a Kuryakyn Pet Palace for my Havanese pup. It won’t fit in the passenger seat on my RT Ltd, so I am looking at other methods to secure it. I looked at the Rivco expandable rack, but the weight limit is 12 lbs. The Pet Palace by itself weighs 11 lbs. 😳. So, although I actually think it’s kind of silly...paying about $300 (with tax) for something to carry just 12 lbs...do ppl who use this combo feel confident exceeding the Rivco’s weight limit? With their pet? Thanks!
