RazzleH, it's not really a "coffee maker " in the true sense, it's a heating element that you put in a cup, I have a direct power socket in the L/H front speaker grill, just fused at 15A direct to the battery ( have a lithium battery), I put a cup of water in the L/H cup holder, leave the engine running, put the heater in the cup and plug it in, when it's boiled, about 4 or 5 mins, I carry tube sachets of instant coffee, tea bags and dairy stix UHT milk, Hey Presto, tea or coffee at the roadside. Beats a warm can of cola anyday. No charge problem, my charge rate is over 14v, I also have led headlights which leaves more charge room for coffee. you have to get your prioritirs right.
