Sky diving without a parachute is dangerous.
Only in America could you sue over this and win.
There are a lot of people to blame for that one but logic would tell one standing that close to something that big has got to be risky at best...:yikes: if they put up deflectors, retaining walls or block the area off they will loose the tourist trade even if they are idiots....
Good discussion subject Bob. The legal debate from both sides will go on and on, I am guessing.
My opinion:
She may try and sue. Will she be successful? Maybe.
Points to ponder:
:ani29:: this airport is well known for the "problem."
:ani29:: There is a sign warning...but we know how effective that can be.
Over and out. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
Sucks to be her....
If they can even file a lawsuit, they'll not win. Like was already stated- This didn't happen in the U.S. of F.L. (Frivolous Lawsuits).
if you're stupid enough to stand just yards from a commercial jet that has to rev up his engines before takeoff and get sand blasted ... then you get very little sympathy from me. wonder if there was alcohol involved?
play stupid games .. win stupid prizes
Stand behind a big huge jet engine,
what could possibly go wrong :banghead::banghead:
That runway is used for both landings and takeoffs so it would be very dangerous to erect a blast wall just inside the fence. The only type that could work would be like those on aircraft carriers which are raised when planes are taking off and retracted when planes are landing. That would be a pretty expensive solution to just banning idiot tourists from the beach.
People do not understand just how much wind is created by those huge engines (especially those with noise bypass). One reason why carriers have safety nets off the flight deck. It can catch you by surprise even though you work around those aircraft every day.
there absolutely should be a lawsuit but it should be against the parents & teachers of the one who could not read the sign and
was never taught common sense. perhaps god or the police should be brought into the suit also.
:D I like your logic!
:agree: The term: "More money, than common sense", is flashing in my mind right now! :D
My guess is if her family sues they will prevail for one simple reason. It is far more cost effective to settle than it is to litigate. The trick to making money off a situation like this is to drag as many people into the lawsuit as possible. It doesn't matter how stupid or reckless your actions were, someone has to pay for them. I see the airport, the city, the airline, maybe even the company of the cab driver who brought them to the beach. All of them will be accused of being negligent to one extent or the other.
They might as well also bring suit against the company that installed the wall that she bounced her head off of... :banghead:
I saw the accident from 2012 (today) where 3 people were hurt from being thrown by the blast. Do you know what they got out of it? SQUAT.
How about you and I make a side bet as to how far this will get to the person's family receiving money? We are not allowed to actually wager here; just P.M. me.
So so much to say but you get what you get people, the airlines, the island owners etc.
a sign on an electric fence would suffice. Anything past that is 100% on the breeding for the human race to go extinct crowd.
