I heard of this and was wondering about exactly what it does & can it be installed fairly easy & is it worth the cost & time to do it? Anybody here using this item?

Make sure that they know what year you need it for, the 2013 models need special attention.

I don't think you need it on the 2014s or newer. The pre-'14s with the smaller engine really put out some heat on the right side - not just the 2013 models. It's a plate made to fit the lower oblong home just below your right toe.

The block off plate diverts the air from the radiator and prevents the dreaded right side hot foot.
For the 1330 engine (your 2014 RT), BRP relocated the radiator and installed their own block off plate.
Frankly, in my opinion, the did a crappy job. The lower cowling should have been redesigned as a solid piece so it looks like the left side.

Just my opinion. I could be wrong, and I'm sure someone on this forum will point it out if I am.

They dont come from the factory with them. Its a MOD that most add, and a few sponsors sell the plates.

The 1330 RT engines have two radiators, one on each side. I guess the extra radiator and plumbing cost more than a solid lower cowl piece, therefore the block off panel on the right.

There has been a few posts, regarding this subject, with very great pics and details.
My self I used the 2014 grill and block off plate and have no issues regarding hot foot riding on floor boards or highway pegs. PM me if you need details.

I put a 2014 grille on the right side, it incorporates a lower block off plate and matches the stock 2013 left grille perfectly. If I can find a pic, I will post it. Some slight modifications are needed to make it fit, but really an easy install. I think it cost $17.00 from BRP. I had the Spyderpops block off plate for a long time, and it worked well, but it just didn't look right. The 2014 grille di the trick for me.

Couldn't find,a pic, sorry.

Yes it will. I bought one from BRP, and just had to do some trimming and it fit perfectly.

I don't think so, unless you've noticed a problem. They've changed the cooling system as of 2014 and there's not so much of a problem now.

Do I need a block off plate for my 2014RTS-SE6? Deanna Is your right foot to hot to be comfortable? If not then probably not. Many said that the 2012 didn't really have a heat problem either but my right foot even in boots was cooking,so I put the block off plate in and no more problem. You decide, how uncomfortable is your foot?

I don't think you need one for the the 2014. Go back and re read the entire thread and you will see where 2014 and up have a different cooling system that eliminates the hot right foot of the earlier models. Is your right foot hot when you ride? If not you don't need it. Check the Spyderpops website (on the SL home page) for more information.

Hi Dee!
None of the 1330 RTs need the block-off panel. The radiators aren't in the same place, so you don't end up with the hot air anywhere near your right foot...

I don't know if BRP makes such a part. I bought mine from Spyderpops when I first bought my 2012. That plate is working very well for 18000+ miles now. Go to http://spyderpops.com/spyder-rt-radiator-exhaust-block-off-plate/
