What do you do with the "Y" rubber boot?

I love my NMN 4" risers. But what do you do to the rubber boot cover? Mine keeps coming back out. I have enough slack in the cables, but they put pressure on the cover and keep popping one side or the other out. Should I cut the boot to allow for the extra strain by taunt cables or do you just do away with it?:dontknow:
