OK I see that you made it here. Attached is the link to the flyer, my time line and end point is way off, sorry see adjustment below... I did get the date correct though.. So far its Me xpeschon,, coolmachine, captainryder and MO LEE,, friends this should be a really good event so if you can make it come on out... We will be doing other busy planning other activities after the run but for now I would really like a headcount.. so reply to this if you can make it> See link below:

http://www.local28forr.com/id5.html

Adjust the like-up time to 10:00

Adjust the end point to the Shrine Club in Buckhorn MO however----I talked to the coordinator thismorning (Brian) and he told me that they are trying to get the run to end on Fort Leanard Wood at the USO office on post, that actually would be better--We'll see but for now they are planning on the Shrine Club.. No bands going to be there but there will be food..
Let us know if you plan on make it.. Thank you to all...

Joe
PS: I am posting this at work so I have to go but more to follow once I get hom this evening.. Gotta go..

Anybody wanting to keep in touch with myself, can use the e-mail below or this website contact - goes to the same e-mail.

I'm excited about this for two reasons.

a. It does support a good cause. I was active 4.5 years and reservist for 16 years. My daughter is active Kansas National Guard and been to Iraq. And in 6 years will have her "20". The USO provides good support to troops in far-away places. A completely self-supported, non government funded organization, it provides soldiers with a place to sit down and see familiar "home" things as well as sending "U.S. entertainers and people" to war zone areas. Enough said.

b. For Spyderlovers, this is will be a great way for (at least from middle of Missouri) westward into Kansas, south into Arkansas, and possibly north into Iowa to come together for a first time. BUT EVERYBODY WHO WANTS TO RIDE THAT WEEKEND TO MISSOURI, from as far away as you want, we hope you come. :2thumbs:

Heck, Lamonster thinks a 1000 mile run to Houston, Tx from Tennessee is a weekend walk!

Now, let's start seeing some ideas as to where to " Ride On" that weekend. Lake of Ozarks is still centrally located, and the backroads to the lake from USO ride would be great. Also, Xpeschon, talked about the HA HA Tonka castle ruins at the lake... it is a great place to enjoy. ON the other hand the drive south to the Scenic Riverways is nice as well. But hotels / overnight might offer less choices. Talk this up.

I think this is going to work, as for other things to do The Lake area surely would be good for drawing crowds. Springfield Mo is only about 90 miles away and Bass Pro is a popular spot to visit and then there is always Branson. We could always base the whole get together from the St Robert area and ride out from there for sight seeing and etc. It sounds like a lot of us has ties to the military so this would be a great cause.

Its running, it just turned 1000 miles last Saturday during a shake-down run to Eureka Springs, I'm just not sure yet that I trust it for a long ride. I'd say 50/50 at this point. I'll be ryding it again today.

Good to hear Gary,

By June you'll be wanting to take that ride, and the Ozarks is waiting.

As we get closer to June, the "itch" to ride will catch alot more of us. I haven't heard anything from the folks just over the line in Kansas at Spring Hill, KS.... ?? Teacherbob where are you?

I'm trying to arrange my schedule so, I can make it. Saturdays are my busiest days in the store and June is a busy time for me.
I would realy like to meet up with everyone.

Thats GREAT news Gary, I'm with the Captain---June is a bit away yet and I am hoping that you have the confedence in your spyder for this, I can offer you this, cause I would really like for you to make it--Worse case--If something happens to your spyder I WILL get you home on Sunday, I have a trailer and the truck to pull it so no worries bro.. I'm off on Monday so its no big deal.

As for Ken I'm hoping that your schedule can be adjusted in order to make this, should be fun and I am itching to get it all started..

Yeah, I know what you mean spyderbitten.

Have my first grandchild (daughter) and we babysit every other weekend! Looks like it might be our weekend that week also. If it is, we will definitely have me go and bring along the "spoiled one" via car or something. ( Dang, I wish they made small helmets for 22 month old riders ):clap::clap:

And teacherbob, hope things can work out for you and (tell your friends also)

It's early, but I appreciate everyone's consideration for this. It will sure be nice to have a good bunch (nest full) of Spyders riding in this. And if we get on the post, the soldiers and families will swarm us for sure! ( That's the coolest thing about riding your Spyder!)

04-13-2009, 05:21 AM
No new update on the final end point of the ride yet. I plan on touching base with Brian (he is the guy orginizing the whole ride) to see if they have made any head way on end point so stay tuned for that info. I hope for the sake of everyone involved they are able to pull this one out.. I can tell you this, it HAS been done in the pass because we have escorded many of TROOPS home from Iraq via Gray Hound Buses being escorded by many bikes and the waiver has always been approved for this and plus we have escorded funerals for falling soliers from the Airfield to the Chapel and from the Chapel to the funral home on many occations and ALWAYS have had the waiver approval for this so-----Hopefull the General will sign this one since it is actually HIS RIDE.. I don't see any problems but I will keep you posted.. Ride Safe.

CALLING ALL USO RIDERS PLEASE SEE THE MESSAGE ABOVE IT WAS POSTED BY ONE OF OUR BROTHERS SOMETIME TODAY!!!!

Mo Lee have you heard anything about this? I have not but you can bet that I will make some phone calls tomorrow.. Check this out all spyder riders---If this is true (and I actually believe it is but till I actuall here it from Fort Leonard Wood) this means that we can ride on POST without any waiver simply cause we have 3 wheels on the ground, WOW this is really cool cause my wife can now drive the spyder to work.... But again, I have to hear it from the Safety office here in Fort Leonard wood!! If you have ever spent any time in the Armed Services you know as well as I do that each Command must abide by the regulations however they CAN adjust to a more stronger restrictions, lets keep our fingers crossed,, Now look at the message above..

Lets ride boys the spyder is running strong..

I just spoke with my brother and have made plans to travel to Camdenton a couple of days ahead.

I've never driven a bike before so I'm not exactly sure how long it will take me to become comfortable on the interstate. However, by June I ought to be feel comfortable or I ought to sell my Spyder!!

K this looks really good... I am waiting to hear from the CAPTAIN to complete the final plans.. So stay tuned for an UPDATE to be published on Monday the 18th of May.. This will include an overnight stay at a unknown place as of right now however, by Monday when I post the final plans there will be a hotel link on there for all of you to make your own reservations, so again, STAY TUNED the 13th of June is right around the corner.. Hopefully I will have an answer for you all as to if the ride is ending up on FORT LEONADWOOD or not, keep you fingers crossed lets up it ends up there.... They are still waiting to hear back for the Generals Staff as to see if he is going to approve the waiver, they are still hopefull that this will get approved and if not, thats alright as well but overall it would be nice to at least see the post..

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, I've been in Texas with an ill father. But I will be getting back tonight or NLT tommorrow night with final plans. For now, sent XPECHON some final suggestions.

1. Everybody try to meet at 7:30am to 8am in Lebanon, MO at Shoney's for breakfast. 1015 S. Jefferson ST, Lebanon, MO. (Only 2 places with good breakfast in town.... they may be crowded)

2. Optional, meet us at 9am at the Registration/Start POint, Lebanon Harley Davidson.

Those coming down Friday night.... we think that staying in Lake of the Ozarks area Saturday night will be the final stop that day. It's about 35 miles to Lebanon from middle of Osage Beach at Lake of Ozarks area. A 45 minute ride that morning from your hotel to Leabanon Saturday to start the rally won't be too bad.

I suggest that we stay in the 5700 to 6400 block of US Hwy 54 in Osage Beach area at the Lake of the Ozarks, lots of hotels in this 1.5 mile stretch ( think of Branson, alittle less crowded, but lots of traffic, and eats, and resort things along this stretch) The major hotels in this stretch are Super 8, Econo Lodge, Comfort Inn, Rodeway Inn.

After the USO ride we will leave for a ride back to Lake of the Ozarks.... plan on stopping for light lunch as suggested before... then ride one of 2-3 routes to the Lake area.... Options, we can vote on one or decide later: Bennett Spring Park, Ha Ha Tonka State Park, or the Lake Ozark Dam Area . Then check-in later, and dinner.

Plan on farewell breakfast somewhere next morning .... 9am??

More formal plans, contacts, coming. For now... contact me at kweir13@comcast.net.... I work still, so after 5pm most weekdays. or my cell phone is 816-810-3441.....

Looking forward to a great time......

Kansas City group.

Let's definitely plan to ride down Friday Afternoon. The earliest I can get away is 2-3pm... It's a 3 hour ride. I'll meet anywhere you want. My job takes me to different locations in Kansas City each day... but June 12th I am in North Kansas City, Vivion Road area. I could take my Spyder to work, then meet up with all somewhere and travel.

Suggested route: US 50 ( instead of I-70) to Sedalia, Turn south on Hwy 65, to Preston, MO at junction of Hwy 54. Then Hwy 54 towards Camdenton and Osage Beach...... hotel

We could meet some of you guys from Kansas also. Hwy 54 runs towards Wichita, KS ??? Anybody coming from that direction???

Our group rate is confirmed for June 12th (Fri) and June 13th ( Sat) if you want to stay together. I got a block of (8) rooms reserved at a two day rate of $169.99. You can contact the hotel under (sorry if this is plagarism Gene..) the name Mid Mo Spyder Group, If you want this rate and a room ( only 7 left, as I have reserved one myself), contact the hotel before JUNE 5TH, 2009.

2. The Econo Lodge is approx 8.5 miles from Junction of Hwy 5 and Hwy 54 east of Camdenton. The morning of the 13th we can ride down to Lebanon, MO from the hotel which is a total of 33 miles to Leabanon.

3. Lots of other places to stay in the Lake of the Ozark area if other riders have points, discount cards, etc... wanting to use for optional lodging.

4. Or....Meet at Shoney's in Lebanon, MO around 9am Saturday 13th. Then around 9:45 we will go to the Harley Davidson Dealership to sign-up for the USO Ride.

5. For those not familiar with Lebanon, MO..... It stradles I-44, main town is on the north side of I-44. There are 3 exits, I will call them A. ( furthest west, B. middle exit and C. furthest east.) Hwy 5 runs north and south through Lebanon and crosses I-44 on exit B. This is also known as Jefferson St in Lebanon. Shoney's is about .2miles north off of exit B. The Harley Davidson Dealership is along the south side service road along side of I-44 between exits A. and B. You can get to the service road at Exit A. fairly easy at the ramp/overpass. At exit B. you have to go down to the second stoplight south of I-44 then turn right and it works back towards the Interstate and eventually turns left going west as the service road on the south side of the interstate. Follow it for about .8 miles to the H.D. dealership.

6. Contacts: Econo Lodge: (573) 348-1781 or gm.mo135@choicehotels.com BE SURE TO SAY GROUP RATE FOR MID MO SPYDER GROUP 169.99 FOR 2 DAYS. It might be more for a single night, but they had more rooms available for Saturday then Fri & Sat together thus I booked 8. If there are more than 8 of us, I'm sorry, but the place still has rooms and Don Neuharth (owner) probably will accomodate. Place is clean and preferably non-smoking.

Sorry to hear that GarytheBadger and SSGBean can't make it. But hoping others will fill their place and make this a great group of Spyders.

Just a quick reminder, see previous posts below, if you want to stay as a group at the Econo-Lodge in Osage Beach, the deadline for confirming a reservation at the 2-day group rate is June 5th (a Friday).

To anyone driving down on Friday 12th from Kansas City, my offer still open to buddy-up about 3pm (earliest I can get away) from North Kansas City or can meet anyone along the way. Should be in Sedalia, MO (junction Hwy 65 and US 50) by 5:30pm or at Preston, MO (junction of Hwy 65 and US 54) by 7:00pm or see you at the Econo-Lodge by 8:00pm.

I hear you Joe, you realize if we do that we might have to ride back in the dark and there is a lot of Forest Rats on Hwy 7. Let me check my calendar if that is my normal day off, sounds great, however if not I should stay home and clean the Spyder that evening.

Well it don't get much worse then it did today for me as long as this get together is coming along.. About an hour after I made my reservation at the hotel it was announce that we all had to be into work on Sunday the 14th of June, well what the F*&^!!! I only work about 2 week-ends a year and never have to worry about putting in time off on a week-end so therefore I must adjust my schedule with the USO RUN.. Fortunitly I plan on doing all the activities (even coming up Friday night the 12th) for a gathering of spyders (Oh and I think I can get Lee to come along right Lee?), except the overnighter on the 13th and the Sunday's activities,, I am truly sorry about this and I feel really bad but its either get "Firied" and enjoy a 1/2 day event or go to work on that Sunday, so with that being said I plan on being at work on the 14th..... BUT again, I will be there for all other activityes.. Again, Sorry and I am really looking forward to the ride..

Not a problem Joe I plan on being there till Sunday. Working on base myself, I understand these things. As for the run up on Friday evening, that is not my Friday to be off however I do get off at 1500 that day. We'll just leave the evening trip as probably at this point and two wheels would be fine with me.

Hello Everybody,
Just wanted to thank everyone who put effort into getting this thing off and running. Unfortunately, I am going to have to pass on this trip. I was notified today of a work situation with a leave of abscence from one of my co-workers. I am going to have to step in and cover for them while they are out. I hope to make it on the next gathering of Spyders. I hope the trip goes great for all of you with bright sunny skies. Have a safe trip. Jerry :(

Hope there are still some coming from Kansas, Arkansas, and especially around Kansas City. Just a quick reminder, the deadline for reservations at the contract rate is tommorrow !!!! June 5th.

I am so much looking forward to this one.. MO Lee I contacted Cowtown and they are coming with 3 for sure spyders and maybe a forth one, no word on how much they will get involved as far as the activities goes however they will do the actually ride so thats cool.. Link-up time for them is 8:30 here in Waynesville at Kum and Go, we can talk about this on Friday.. Yah I had an american legion meeting last night and they mentioned this but by the time I got home from the meeting and did some things around the house I kind of forgot about it but this is really good news guys, the Commanding General did the right thing to allow everyone on Fort Leanard Wood since it is a Fort Wood Ride!! Seems as though everything is coming together on this one, just wish there was a few more spyders but thats alright, we still have a lot of riding left and maybe after this one we can put together a "RUN TO THE STATE LINES" ride that would consist of picking up other members from the AR, IL, IA, KS (did I leave any other bordering states out?) we can talk about this one on the 14th... I am looking forward to this..

See ya all soon oh and as the Captain said, make you reservation if you plan on spending the night today is the dead line!

PS: irish2themax I hope the weather holds out for ya brother!!

Thanks for the heads up Captainryder I'll check with Joe and see if he still wants to come up Friday night. I believe we have one more local guy coming on the ride at least. I did read something yesterday saying the route of travel will be the outer road instead of the interstate, which is pretty much all historic Rt 66. I hope everyone reads the clothing requirements for entering the Fort sounds like those of us with stickers still have to wear the hot gear.
Irish you be careful on your trip, when I bought the silver spyder I really wanted a red one so it would be easier to be seen. Since that time I've decided the spyder is different enough that cage drivers see it so well they are dangerous to us and every other vehicle around.

Only one more week before the Mid-Missouri Spyder invasion! Looking back thru previous posts it still sounds like we will muster more than 10 Spyders. I'm working on contacting a couple more local local riders that don't seem to be on this web site. Joe do you have a way to contact the lady with the yellow Spyder? Hope to see meet a lot of Spyder folks lets hope as the time draws near more will decide to join in the fun.

That's a really good first showing for Mid-Missouri meet. Hope there are a few more surprises !

Irish...ride safe !!

AS for the post requirements for clothing, I'm just glad they didn't say knee-high boots ! But it's great we will be getting this show on the post. By the way is this the first year driving onto post? HOpe the stop point is a place were post residences can come by and mingle.

See you all next Friday night or Saturday morning. That parking lot at HD Lebanon is not real big, so there will be alot of us out on the driveway or service road. In any event, I think the Spyders should take up the rear of this group, unless someone has enough pull for the leaders of the pack

That's what I was thinking, a Spyder grand final. I'm not sure but I believe 3-4 years ago they finished on post. of course the Post Commander was a Biker and lead the runs then.

I mentioned our USO ride to my good friend Lewis.
He is a Harley driver but as a redeeming quality he is also a past Dust off Pilot. So now we are heading up Thursday to spend some time riding around the lake.
On Friday night we will be waiting for you.

Okay...packing up the :spyder2: tomorrow so I can get an early start Wednesday morning. I put all of the Spyder dealers/phone numbers along the way into my GPS just to be safe. I asked my dealer if I had to do anything special to use the BEST Plus since I have no documentation yet. They said dealer only needs to enter my VIN number into the computer to get confirmation.

So I guess I'll see you all Saturday at Shoneys. My brother and a friend are going to join on their Harleys.

Wow this is coming together really nice,, Glad to hear that may are bringing along other riders.. irish2themax be careful and we will link up Saturday Morning for sure... Hey ya Captain,, No need for any of you folks to worry about the required gear to ride on post, this was all waivered by the Commanding General,,, HOWEVER IF you are a soldier in the ride or a DOD Civilian you MUST have on the proper gear,, So therefore it will put MO Lee for sure in the gear and as for me,,, I'm really not sure,, Lee I am a contractor, I don't think I need to wear that stuff do I?? I will figure it out though.... Now as for the Lady with the spyder,, I have emailed her but it says she is "out of the office",, This is the only way I know how to get a hold of her,, I will continue.. Any word from the guy at TMP??

K boys, ride careful as this started to develop and see you soon..

Wow it does sound good, hearing the Harleys makes me want to drag out the Valkyries, but thats alright I dusted a few of them last Saturday with the Spyder. I havn't heard from TMP, the gentleman on 28 said he would love to go however his wife has been sick so he can't make it this time. As for the gear I would say it will be a matter of if you have a sticker you need the gear. My plan is to have the gear with me and if they check I will put it on however I've been pretty good a blending in with the crowd before.

Good to hear...means I don't have to bring my spare DOT helmet. (Was thinking of putting the DOT symbol from my Bell on my Givi anyway...LOL) Was running out of room 'cause I'm bringing a cooler of Diet Pepsi and some mods that I'm shanghaing my brother into installing for me.

The only thing waived is the requirement for long sleeves, full fingered gloves, Motorcycle safety course, and reflective material. Everyone still must have over the ankle boots, long pants, eye protection (windshield does not count), DOT approved Helmet and at least open fingered gloves. Also proof of insurance, valid drivers license, and registration.

We'll be fine.. I am sure as we approach the gate they will have a open lane for all to travel in and it will be a seam-less entrance. I'm not getting wrapped around this.. I plan on just wearing my NON DOD helmet as I always do and they never say anything about it.. I will do the final coordination with Cowtown today and also try to get a hold of Cheryle ( the female that has the spyder) today, hopefully she's back in the office, and you work on the TMP guy.. K, gotta get ready for work now, see ya all soon..

Congrats Irish on the license. Rumor has it that Post will be checking License and insurance for sure. Weather should be Ok sounds like continued spotty thundershowers thru Sat so if you have an hour of storms you still have 23 hours to ride that day. Besides the Spyder handles rain well I verified that yesterday on the way home from work.
