The Moose family showed up again to harvest my apple trees. We beat them to the punch this year and got the best stuff two weeks ago. The apple crisp was pretty good!:yes:

We left a few on each tree and Mother and now the two year olds got to feast again.

Sometimes, you just have to love Alaska.

My son in Palmer, AK. said the moose came into his garden last week and ate everything. His neighbor who is a cop says if he sees them again and my son is not home, he will shoot one because it is legal if the moose is causing damage.

Question: If you shoot a moose, and he busts a mirror off of your truck when toppling over: does THAT also justify the harvesting of the animal?

After all: there WAS damage done! :D

Only if the truck has a farm license. It is for crop damage, but if the truck is used for hauling crops, maybe.

NOTE TO SELF: If I move to Alaska; make sure to register everything as a farm truck!

This is a scenario that has now played out for the last three years around this time. The Moose are neighborhood regulars and there are three yards with apple trees in them. The neighbors across the road and down the road to the left also get their attention.

Last year, they harvested the apples before we did. This year, we got the best ones.

I've got an even more sure sign of winter being here already.

A few weeks ago, I received the bill from the boatyard for the winter storage.
