was scheduled for an alignment this morn in wis, about 100 miles away. 6 miles from the
dealership we stopped at mcd's for quick b'fast. came out and turned the key and got
an orange screen. better close the lid. uh, no. says DESS and check engine light is on.
turn it off, wait a few seconds , and it starts . yay. get to dealer, robs motorsports in johnson creek,
wis. tell them about it. they get done with the align, pull the code and tell me they will throw a module and
ignition switch in. module will only take an hr, so we went with that. otherwise , 3 hrs. will see
what happens . it is the "16" module. over 400 spyders there this weekend. they are having their annual
spyder rendevouz. got to meet trykerbiker [sp] and his wife and watch spyder games.all in all a day
i hope i dont repeat but had a great outcome !

Nice to meet you and your wife as well......so inquiring minds want to know..was it a night and day difference in ride after alignment? Like on "rails". Safe riding!

its better. straight line on backroads where they are uneven and
going around curves seems like you are not correcting all the time.
my seventy plus vibration is gone and has moved down into the 55-60
or so accelerating only in high gear. i am now set at 1100 newtons.
thats what brp wants. i even turned around and came back and asked
and looked up the specs in the pages i had brought. they told me originally
my belt was loose. guess its time to buy a cricket. have heard yay and nay
on a smooth spyder tensioner. think ill start riding the victory. not
so many things to deal with.

ps- we do love the ride and wind control. its just an expensive thing to maintain .
heard the service guy say the 14000 mile service was $1300.00 !! :yikes:

 $1300, at 14,000 miles? :yikes:

I just hit 15,000 miles, and my bill was a touch over $186.00 :dontknow:

For that kind of money: they should slip a new bike underneath your saddle!

I haven't looked at what is done at 14K miles. So what was done or going to be done for that kind of money?

...heard the service guy say the 14000 mile service was $1300.00 !! :yikes:

Is it possible he was talking to someone with a pre-2014 model? The earlier engine calls for a valve clearance check at 14K. The 1330 engine does not require those expensive checks.

Are they planning on dismantling the entire bike and cleaning it with a toothbrush ?????. If that is a serious price ...... I'd go to some other dealer and get another quote , jmho...............Mike

That's what I was thinking also...
Unless they're hiring the Victoria's Secret Models; to wash the bike after it's been serviced... :D

I know a lot of riders have been upset at this problem and blame BRP .
well my wife's 2014 Impala just had the same problem .
To get it started we had to jump start it. At dealer know to get fixed.

heard the service guy say the 14000 mile service was $1300.00 !! :yikes:Service person is wrong. There is NO 14,000 mile service on 2014 and above RT's. They are talking valve check on the 998's. Not required on 1330's. Surprised that such a good dealer does not have more informed service persons.
