Got an e-mail this morning that my password has been re-set by the forum admin.

The e-mail provided me with a temporary 14 digit password.

Huh ?? -- I'm thinking a scam. Anyone else get a similar e-mail ?

I've been using the same one for six years... :dontknow:
(No imagination; and an even worse memory!)

Never seen it...haven't been here that long but still have never heard of a password re-set for anyone. Have seen a few lock-outs...:roflblack::roflblack:

Maybe your account there was hacked & the email is trying to suck you into something sinister. If your old pw doesn't work contact their admin. Legit pw reset emails don't send new pw in regular emails.

There is one thing to keep in mind when you get an email claiming you need to update your account for anything. For any website. Whether you think it is suspicious or not. If the email gives you a link to click on. Don't Use It!!! Scammers create links that look legitimate. That takes you to a login screen that may look legitimate. In the the hope you try and login. Then they have your login for there own use. Just use your regular way of getting to the login screen. Simple as that.

First, it's the other website, not this one. Canamspyderforums

Secondly, they have been announcing on the forum itself that there was going to be a mandatory password reset happening. Nothing "fishy", it was planned and announced.

That said, the warnings above are just good internet practice. Always use your own path to a site, never ever click a link in an email. Protect yourself and your logins.

On one of my past forums my PW was reset due to threats of hacking on other forum sites.
I logged in my way and had to use the new PW. 10 years "change" uh :banghead:

You're correct :D
I just re-read the e-mail and it was NOT for this forum.
My apologies for being a "DUH" :opps:

It's because of the Vertical Scope hack that certain forums are making you reset your password. This site wasn't one of them.
