After researching the heck out of the Spyder and a lot of good advice from owners on this board a few weeks back, I took the leap of faith. My 2009 roadster red spyder will be here this afternoon. I got what I consider to be a very good deal and believe the dealership has the passion to take of me and my purchase. It was a huge decision and I hope my machine was built on a good day with fully functional parts! I can tell you that my previous bike (a 2006 HD Sportster) was not and I spent as much time on the side of the road as I did riding it. I know not every Sporty is a problem, but I finally had to give up on it. I'm really counting on you, BRP.
Unfortunately the weather here will be far too cold for the next 4 or 5 days to able to try it out, but for now I will be happy just to visit it in the garage. I have a feeling some accessories will be in my future...
Thanks again to all of you for some great comments and feedback in what has been an agonizing decision-making process. But that part is over now--
I'm pumped and can't wait to get out there!!

Which model did you get, the SE5 or the SM5.
You picked an EXCELLENT color. Of course I am a bit biased since I own a red SM5.

It's an SM5. I too am partial to the red. Looks great with the black pieces and silver wheels.

Tech guy that delivered it made 3 comments before he left...
--It will have high idle when very cold out until it warms up.
--Because of so much gravel around where I live, I should keep a lower amount of air in the tires.
--Don't idle for very short time and then shut off; can foul plugs. He said the front plug is reallllly hard to get to. Hadn't heard that one before.

It's 22 degrees out so no ride today (maybe up and down the driveway). Even though it's just bone stock I'll try and post a pic anyway. It's here, it's mine and it's paid for!!

Did a quick test ride on my gravel driveway and some wet grass. The traction control kicked in. I could only do about 20 mph. Not much of a test and way too cold wind chill but...
First impressions--powerful, quick acceleration, a beast on the terrible surfaces available today but not body-jarring. Quiet. Extremely smooth shifting. Stock windshield probably useless. Lots of clutch feathering, engine temp @ 4 bars when I was done--outdoor temp was 34 degrees but no real airflow since I was riding so slow. Power steering helpful at slow speed.
One thing to get used to, making sharp turns while maintaining consistent throttle control. Throttle is VERY touchy, just need to work at it.
Overall--I think I'm gonna like this!!! Thanks again for everyone's support. Temporary home in the barn until I can get stuff moved around. Now I'll try to attach a pic.
