Going to be selling my 2012 RT and getting into an F3-S. There still seems to be plenty of new 2015 models out there for sale.

Are there any major differences between the 2015 and 2016 models?

The price seems to be the best reason to go for a 15.

The 2016 Touring and Limited models are set up for towing...
(If that matters!)
There was a problem with cracking frames in 2015; make sure that the fix has been implemented! nojoke

Yea about $5,000 differences. Save the $ get the 5 year warranty on the 15 and all the farkles you want and still be less than a new stock one. To save even more $ I would recommend a base model, as there are no performance differences, but you can still add cruise control to it for about $200.

Approching 4000 miles on my F3. I have seen the 2016's. They are nice. But it's the same bike. The FS-T was set up fpr touring. But I put saddlebags on , and backrest, and blueridge on mine to deal with that and saved a lot of money.http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=129313&stc=1http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=129314&stc=1

I bought a 2015 F3.
The only difference I can see is the display type.
The 2015 has the mono LCD display while the 2016 (I think all) have the color display.

You of course do not have to wait for the mono display to boot so if you are considering it for a bank robbery get away vehicle, the 2015 is the way to go.

the 2016 F3 and F3-S have the same monochrome display as the 2015. Only the F3-T and F3-L have the new color display and audio options.

I'm for sure leaning towards a 2015 model. The F3-T looks amazing, but the bags don't hold as much as something like GIVI V35's. Leaning towards an F3-S for the cruise and cool fenders.
There are deals out there for sure. Just gotta move my RT first.

No, they definitely aren't the same bike. There are a few major improvements of the '16 over the '15.

If you look at the parts diagram of the frame you can see the 2016 F3, F3-S has been beefed up where the rear sub frame bolts onto the rear of the main frame.

I think he was comparing the '15 and 16 F3 and F3S.

Oh... I stand corrected. Not the first time, nor the last. Thanks!

So what are the 'major' improvements ?
I'm not seeing them. Other than beefing up the area near the top of the rear shock.... Instead of the recall plate for the 2015's.
So what else has changed?

Nothing. I think the other poster was thinking of the F3 Tour and the F3 Limited. I see a lot of posts from people where they act like the F3 (base) and F3-S models no longer exist in 2016.

They still make f3-S for 2016.

I know they do, it's just funny reading some of the other posts. People are SO excited about the tour and limited styles that they seem to forget that the base and S models still exist. As far as choosing between the 2015 and 2016, I think you can't go wrong either way. You already know about the differences (the frame reinforcement/change). The other change is color choices. I think if you're looking to save a bundle of money, your best bet is to get the 2015 and make sure that the frame reinforcement service bulletin work is done before you take it home. If you like the idea of the slightly different frame and a color that's available in the 2016 lineup, you'll pay slightly more but have a newer model year. Other than that you're going to like either one. Enjoy your new F3!

If you get the 2015 sm6 It has NO vacuum assist on the clutch pull. Maybe someone can tell us if they included vacuum assist on the 2016? 2015 is the ONLY manual model NOT to have vacuum assist on the clutch? They assumed we are all PopEye Da sailor man?:banghead:
