I love covers that out do the original, and this one does IMHO.

I challenge you to listen to this and not get a little emotional.

If you have a favorite cover, post it in this thread.

Back before they were famous I knew a guy who knew them down in the Village ( NYC where they started out ) and got to meet both Paul & Art. Truly nice human beings and it goes without saying INCREDIBLE talents.......30 or so years later I re-united with Art in a Hotel in little " Montpelier Vermont " and had a nice, but short visit...( I was a cop at the time and had privileges - He was sooooooooooooooooo :yes::yes: it wasn't a drug bust :roflblack::roflblack: He was more than Happy to actually DO " Sounds of Silence " for me right there in the motel room. And SORRY but this cover doesn't even come close to the original :lecturef_smilie:................and that's my humble opinion for what it may be worth ;) ........................Mike :bbq:

That's an awesome story Mike.

So you probably know the history of that song. Not sure if this is accurate as far as years go but the story is correct. There were two versions of that song, one in '64 that never took off and they decided to call it quits. In '65 the record producer dressed it up a bit, rereleased it and the rest is history. Some people did not like the juiced up version thinking is was to festive for what the song was written about. The assassination of JFK.

As far as which one is better, S & G or Disturbed, I am going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one Mike. This is not even close. S & G sounds poppy, cheesy and it's just dated. Disturbed's version is more powerful and emotional. All you old farts (saying that in a nice way, I am one too) need to get yourselves out of the sixties when it comes to music.

My sister in law sings with the "Which one's Pink" cover band. Quite good at that just not my music. Thing is with all the advancements in the music industry you can make a jack ass sound good. The originals did it with much less....They are still good but I don't compare them to the originals.....

That was very good, and very different. But, I couldn't stand to look at that guy. Too damn many holes punched in his head!

I am pretty sure this was the cover for Helen Reddy's 'I am Woman:'

This has been posted on Facebook as a heavy metal version of this song, which is kind of a joke to me. The band, heavy as hell. This song, not so much. But it is a good version of it.
My favorite cover song of all time? Anything from Led Zeppelins first 3 albums. LOL. I love Zeppelin but they stole most of their early stuff from blues legends.
