Have you tried disconnecting the battery? It may reset the system provided you're not looking at a switch problem.

No mode button? :gaah: So you can not follow start procedure & the radio is least of your problem??:dontknow: Sounds like fickle switch & should get dealer to fix before it gets worse! Go ahead & check others for good measure.

Glad is minor. The dealer should be able to have that fixed in a jiffy. Plz report back if the fine it's something else.
I wasn't there but I still care!

Do the set and direction buttons work in other screens? For example the trip meter screen or settings screen. Or do they not work only on the audio screen?

Looks like a new LH handlebar switch assembly. I hope you are still under warranty it will be about $400 plus labour.

From the symptoms you describe it's not a radio problem. But to answer your question. It is in the right rear. Near the antenna.

If the left and right buttons do not work in any of the other modes besides the radio, then your problem is more than likely in the handlebar switch itself and not the radio.
I could not find the exact location in the service manual, but here is what it has about testing.

Thinking about it some more. The passenger controls will not be functional anyway. Volume control only works for the wired passenger helmet headset. Unless you have that. The left and right buttons are for changing songs or preset stations. You say you are in Aux mode so neither of those functions exist in that mode.

What a bone head I am.....will working on the bike I must have put to much weight on the cup holder...and bent the bracket down...this in turn engaged the push to talk button which neutralized the whole sound system....I never use the PTT talk button....don't even have any off that on bike...o well...lesson learned....thanks everyone
