I read in the book that brp highly suggests a first service at 3,000 miles. My dealer told me that I need to come back at 600 miles for a first service (i.e. oil change). So, what has everyone else done. I know what I have done with other motorcycles but this new can am I am getting conflicting stances.

I would also like some clarification on that

You can wait till 3000 miles. I think there's a "break in" interval of about 500-600 miles, but that has more to do with how you drive.

^ correct, the initial "break in" for riding is 600 miles. The actual first service is to be done at 3,000 miles.

Assuming from your visits to the F3 threads you are talking about the 1330 engine. First service for those is 3,000 miles at which point they will do a full diagnostic check and updates as needed along with oil and filter change. You can take it in when ever and they can suggest you come back but unless it is free I would ryde till the recommended first service at 3,000 miles...after that you can do your own work or continue with your dealer...jmo...

For the 1330 engines ( you didn't indicate ) is 3000 miles .......However 95 % of all the manufacturing crude you will find in your engine will show up in the first 200 - 300 miles. So it really depends on how long you intend to keep that Spyder.........This is my last Motorcycle, so I treat Her the best I can Full Synthetic Oil ( not BRP's )etc........jmho.....Mike :gaah:

First service recommendations depend on which engine you are running.

The 998 two cylinder requires first service at 600 miles.

The 1330 three cylinder requires first service at 3,000 miles. There are longer service intervals on the 1330 compared to the 998. You can choose to follow them or not.

A dealer that suggests first service at 600 for a 1330 is either not knowledgeable or is trying to get an extra $$ or two from you. Like the ad says--"it's your money."

My apologies for not specifying. Yes the engine is the 1330. I figured that would be obvious since I was posting in an F3 forum and I am not aware of any F3 that has a 998 engine.

If they'll cover it, why not? Mine was the first F3 my dealership sold and probably the first service they did too. They asked me to come in at 600 miles so they could check things over and they also covered it, so no biggy to me, I did it.
