F3-T Break in Period

I see the F3T first service is due at 3000 miles with an "oil check" at 1000. Will it be ok to take a brand new bike out of the crate and ryde it 1000 miles to Spyderfest?

Like any new engine break in period. Vary the speed. You are going to soooo luv your new ride

The oil check is to be done by you. Most of the 1330 engines do not burn a drop of oil. Just for peace of mind.

Give your tires a gentle first 350 miles (no sudden stops or burn outs).

The rest is normal driving. No redline, vary the speed in the gears. If you use cruise control, vary the speed up and down in 1 mph increments every couple miles or so. Up five/down five works pretty good.

By the time you have 1000 on the odometer, you can be a little less "gentle." I am conservative of course.

See pg 49 of your Operator's Guide. Make sure you do some safe hard stops to break in the brake pads.

Set up and service out of the box your good to go 3000 miles then have her in for the first service. :thumbup:

Everybody has their own style and philosophies regarding breaking-in a new bike...
So here's mine! ;)
The first 600 miles: Vary the rpm, and don't crank on it hard... ride it like your operator's license is in peril with just ONE more ticket...
Once you get to Springfield: check the oil level...
