Skully AR-1 is suppose to be shipping to pre-ordered customers. Has anyone here bought one / received one? There are no reviews from users that I can find. It's got really cool tech, but 1) it's very expensive and 2) is it like a car... never buy the first gen of a new model?

Are they finally actually shipping units? They took peoples money for pre orders almost 2 years ago. I agree its a great piece of tech that could potentially save lives, especially 2 wheelers, too bad the price of it is going to keep it from the masses. I hate to see safety devices priced so high, its not like its a shoei helmet or they have some long standing record of making helmets either. i priced it out compared to what i paid brand new for my yamaha sport bike and i could either have a brand new bike or 4 skully helmets. Now for the spyder i could get my RT or 12.5 skully helmets. Just like scuba diving they price spare air canisters higher than the regulators themselves.

Edit: checked the site and it still doesnt say anything about actually starting to ship units. You think they would have posted something?

There's quite a bit of new helmet tech around recently.

Here's another which the guys in Australia seem to like a lot:

I've been watching them (Vozz). Glad to see that they're getting the pertinent certifications in place, and are selling helmets!

Interesting helmet design...I went directly to the Vozz website and watched their short video...I wonder if it would detach from the rider during a crash?

I very much doubt that it would have got UK/EU certification if that were likely to happen and Mike of SpyderMates in Oz seems to like it a lot!

:agree: The point of wearing a helmet is completely lost, if it comes off at the most important moment in your life... :yikes:

I saw the real thing last September at a CAD Software company I do work for. The helmet was designed in their CAD software. I didn't really get to use it but was able to look over the prototype and talk with the designer. It definitely cool and expensive. I'm inclined to buy though once its released.

Long story short... my wife and I moved from Dallas to Seattle and my youngest daughter (15) was going to move with us. I was going to sell my Spyder, buy a new car for my wife, give my daughter my wife's old (2013) Fiat and I then had my Toyota still. That was the plan... but at the literal last minute my daughter was given a choice by my ex (somewhat incentivized) to stay in DFW... so I'm keeping the Spyder for a while!! And now that I'm up here... wow... what a beautiful area to have a Spyder!!

They're something like $1500... I'd love the tech but have a lot of other things to spend $1500 on then a new helmet that I don't necessarily need. I mean, I live in Seattle now, so I need camping gear, snowboard, lift ticket passes, new mountain bike... you know all the standard outdoor stuff you do in the PNW!!!

I'm just a little surprised that no one that got a pre-ordered one has done any kind of review... strange!! Maybe they have a gag order in the box with the helmet!!!

Vozz Helmet... I like how it wraps under the cheek bone, I bet that gets rid of a lot of wind noise. What are the dB's on this helmet... any testing on this?

And here's a fear of mine... any helmet that relies on a hinge and snap locks scares me a bit, since it requires a zero defect rating... you only get one shot!! I know the Schuberth helmets are also hinged... have those had any issues? I like how they're innovating an age-old product!

Did y'all look at the helmet sizes... 2xl is only up to 7-3/4? Is this a women's size chart? I notice these things because my melon is big and like to see if they get into the size 8+ range or 25" +, lol.

The reason no one has reviewed it is because they still, two years after taking peoples money, have not shipped one to my knowledge. There is certainly no word on their website, not even a "hey we are shipping the first units in XXX month"

Their Facebook page states they're shipping to all pre-order customers and will complete fulfillment by May. Not a lot of transparency... or it's so transparent we can't see it!!

apparently no one has gotten one yet, so they collected everyones money starting 2 years ago!! and are just now "preparing" to put them into production from the email i got from them today. $1500 a pop plus collect interest on it for two years or use to fund your development and still not a single helmet delivered. Hope they are worth it. I love the idea and can't wait for the company to copy it for 1/3 the price.
