I've only had the Spyder a month, but my boss (wife) has granted permission to buy its first accessory, a windshield. I've looked over all the threads and I think its gonna be one of the BRPs...the Sport Touring or the Ultra Touring. The goals are reduction in wind during long 70-ish MPH drives, clean design, clear not colored and no modifications required. Its an SE5, no clutch lever clearance issues. Rider is 5'10". Anyone had or have either of these?

The Ultra touring is not available yet and will not likely be seen for some time. I would avoid the BRP touring screen that is available now- the threads should tell you that as this subject has been discussed at great lengths.

The standard small screen gives less turbulence and buffeting than the touring screen.

I personally have gone with CHAD - see this PDF http://spyderryders.net.au/PDF/I7_Spyder_WindShield_Pub.pdf Others like the Evo screens from Marcel but don't waste your money on the current BRP touring screen IMHO.

I think he was referring to the new ultratouring shield...if you're unfamiliar, it's quite an improvement from everything else BRP has out right now...I think it comes out in a month or two...it will be competitive with the CHAD and others...

For me when I bought an aftermarket windshield, looks had a lot to do with my decision. I went with the BRP Sport touring and I'm happy with it and have had no buffetting issues. But while I don't have buffetting issues it doesn't increase the wind protection that much. It does take some of the pressure off of your chest, but your head remains in the wind. IMO because of the Spyder low to the ground stance and sportier riding position I feel like the taller shields look out of place.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I was referring to the apparently not yet available BRP Ultra Touring vs. the available BRP Sport Touring.
So this is a no-brainer if I can't get the Ultra. Too bad I don't live in an area with lots of Spyder owners, I could check out the windshields personally.

We are in the minority, but there are those of us that think the current BRP tour shield is fine except for the most extreme of conditions. I am only 5' 8" and that may have something to do with it.

In a way, I know, I'm in the minority here. But, I love my Ultrasport Windshield. I want it all, baby! The wind! Everything!
This past weekend, I logged over 500 miles on my Spyder. 350+ of it was on the Interstate systems. And, there were some very gusty conditions!

I'm 6'4". And, I do wear a full face (modular) helmet..

I am 5' 9" and have the OEM windsreen and it works fine for me. Have thought about another windshield but cannot seem to get excited about any that are out. As long as it is functioning well for me I won't fix what ain't broke. JMHO

I have confirmed that the Ultra Touring windshield is not yet available and no ETA from BRP, so I ordered the Sport Touring version. Thanks for all the replies! :)

You are now a member in good standing in the "How Many Windshields Do You Have Club?" This (or maybe mufflers) is the most sought after and debated modification. The Holy Grail windshield that will suit everyone, probably does not exist. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
