The weather guessers are saying 3-6" of snow here, so that means an overkill of road salt. So, that wraps it up for us til spring. It was a fun first summer on the Spyder. Got about 5600 miles on just doing day trips mostly. Had one trip of 1000 miles. Can't wait til spring...LOL
Looking forward to winter though. Can't wait to get out grooming snowmobile trails:clap:

It's not that we'll be getting snow as you are, but the temperature is to drop into the twenties tonight and stay cold here all weekend. Next week isn't going to be warm enough for me to ride so I just went ahead and added the Sta-Bil to my full tank of gas and hooked up my Shumacher Battery Companion. If I get a salt-free day of 50 degrees or above I can quickly get out for a ride any time. Once in a while we get a freak warm day here in the Winter.

Once in a while we get a freak warm day here in the Winter.

Once or twice a month, I'm hoping for. Then a quick ride up and down the freeway to keep everything circulating and charged.
I thinking about taking up x-country skiing this winter. Anybody else?

Larry, Yuck I'm ready to go to Florida with Rod. Rod planning on spending a couple of months down in Florida so hopefully I can get down there and visit him. My next trip is March 16 Spyders in the Bayou. I put my Spyder to bed for the winner yesterday and today getting the snow equipment ready.

This is my first year with a bike, my Spyder RTS, so that is what it feels like eh? Just to add a little Canadian to the mix. I have only had it since last August and put on about 4,000 miles. But the winter will afford me the time to make some modifications that I want to do.

:D But we can ride in Mid-August; without fear of spontaneous combustion catching up to us! :D

Tom... Say it ain't so...

So can we. We don't have the blast furnace heat of the desert, or the horrible humidity of Florida. Just mid 80s to mid 90s, no humidity, no smog, no giant bugs that could carry off small children, and you can ride in the Sierras, the foothills, the farmland back roads, and maybe the best of all Highway 1 all along the Pacific Coast!

As a person who lives in a pretty rural area... how is the traffic out there??
I can often ride for 10 miles in any direction, and count the number of other vehicles on just one hand. nojoke

All of California is not like LA or The Bay Area. We live in the Capitol region around Sacramento. In 5 minutes I am in farmland, or on the river road running on the levee along the Sacramento River. In 20 minutes I am in the Sierra Foothills, and in 45 I am in the height country. Ocean is about an hour and a half, but great Ryde getting there. We will have a few more cars on some of these roads, but we wouldn't call it traffic.

You know we don't have all of these people in California just because they like to pay Taxes:roflblack:! The weather is phenominal, the scenery unbelievable, and you could live in a town just as rural as where you live now! You owe it to the Missus to bring her out here. I fact if you don't want to Ryde all the way out here, we have a friend that rents Spyders so you could pick one up and go for a Ryde!

I don't get everyone's fear of salt. I just traded in my 2009, and rode it all winter. Not literally but any decent dry days I would take it out and put 20-30 miles on it though out the winters. Even on "white" streets. Most of the time I got back I gave her a quick hose down, but sometimes I did not not.
When I tore her apart to remove my accessories I could not find one spec of rust.

I say ride it when ever you can. Unless you plan on keeping for 25 years, it will wear our before it rusts out.
My new F3-S is sitting at the edge of my shop door just waiting for that 45 degree sunny afternoon after this pending snow storm. Life's too short to miss out on some fun.

Mine has been "put to sleep" for the winter since 11/2/15. About the "usual" time here for me. Black ice and snow are my deciding factors. A lot of two wheelers here put them away on September 30. :yikes:

Now, I have to sit back and read about others' adventures until Mar/April or so.

Keep posting about your rides and a picture or two would be nice.

Does a new 2016 F3 LTD count as a farkle? I am thinking LED bumpskid, driving lights, and maybe a taller windshield for starters. A seat decision will take 5,000 miles or so.

A new F-3 Limited is such a MAJOR fARKLE, that you would need a special shirt to go with it...

I hope winter hurries up and gets over soon ! LOL
