Apple keeps urging me to update to OS X El Capitan. Is it worthwhile to update?

I updated, and then went back to Yosemite. I had a few problems. I couldn't use uTorrent (downloading movies), and my EyeTV HD stopped working. There may have been other issues, which I didn't find before going back to Yosemite. I'd say try El Capitan; you can always go back. I have Time Machine, and system restore was easy. Also, try a Google for problems when upgrading to El Capitan.

Only problem I had was having to repair my photo directory, not uncommon apparently.

We have had no problems with El Capitan. Yosemite on the other hand was a lot of problems for us.

I read the reviews and they seemed to be so/so. I use a 2011 Mac Book Pro and one of the reviews mentioned that El Capitan took a long time to load on a Mac of this age. I usually update, but until I read more positive responses I am going to stay with what I am using.

All depends on the age of your Mac, I believe 2011 is the oldest imac that will work.

If you have Time Machine on your Mac, I'd go ahead and try it. You can always restore it. I have a 2008 iMac, and had no trouble loading El Capitan, other than it took a while (1 hr. 20 mins.). But, just because it loads okay, and you go into your normal files/programs and they run okay, doesn't mean you won't get to a file/program eventually that has a problem.

Like I said, my uTorrent and EyeTV HD didn't work correctly, and I found that a week after downloading El Capitan.

So far no problems on the 4 mac's that are new enough for it,I have 3 that are ether "power PC" or old fist gen. intel and can't be upgraded, but still work fine.
