Today I brought home my new 2015 RT LTD SE6 I have just purchased.

Question. I find the engine at idle speed is some what quiet, however as I put it in gear and drive I find the engine making more of a louder noise like perhaps a howl noise. I thought the engine would be quiet.
Is this normal? Since the engine is new will the noise dissipate?

My 2012 RTS SE5 was quieter.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

The triple has a different sound than the twin.

Except if it gets to about 90 db ride it until your 3000 mile first check up. Could be your fuel pump that most, if not all the 14s have a noticeable whine from the fuel pump. No issues as of yet that we have heard of from this habit. Mine has it and I have 7800 miles...started about 500 miles. Ride and smile and worry less. These machines rock!

Yes, that howl, whirl, jet engine sound...however you describe it, is normal. I just ignore it. It is definitely more pronounced if you listen for it. I have worn earplugs for decades because of the wind noise when I ride. They also make the radio sound better, eliminate some of those small noises, and save hearing from being damaged from that constant wind noise. The noise is just part of the 1330.

My new 1330 howls like a banshee from about 48 to 54 mph, no matter which gear I'm in. That's right about where you have to cruise in many suburban settings... I hate it!

As I've mentioned here before, it sounds like the alternator whine I had in my brand new Super Sport Impala I had 50 years ago. It never did quit either.

I will say :congrats: on your new ride. The other posters have the noise issue pretty well covered.

If you still have a concern about it, speak with the dealer when you go in for your 3000 mile "break in" check over.

To be honest Bob, two spots. Yes I'm getting more information being posted on the general area and the 1330 section. I can multi task and keep track of the valuable information people are providing to me.

If you don't like to read it in both area, than don't.
