Small portion of the trip I took with the Can-Am group in Mexico City. This trip was alot of fun for me, I almost wreaked too unfortunately, fortunately I was able to avoid the guy in front of me who stopped completely in the middle of the highway without any warning, I have my part of fault in this too, but I was following his signals and he did not do our universal hand signal here that he was supposed to do and besides not to stop in the middle of the road to boot! Arg! But these people go way to fast for me mostly, we went mostly at speeds of 155km (96 miles per hour) an hour, usually around 140km (86 miles per hour), and a couple of times I was at 165km (102 miles per hour). I did not feel comfortable at this speed, I like 110 to 130km (70 to 80 miles per hour) just fine, but going at 102 miles per hour is just to much for me. I don't have enough experience for this. I went to Mexico City for 3 nights at Holiday Inn, I had a very nice time, a great change of pace for me! I work to much and needed a break. But I met a few people there that later want to go on a trip with me, and this will be much more relaxed. I got to see parts of Mexico never seen before, some magnificent water falls! It was alot of fun! The trip started at the Angel de Independencia (this Angel fell from its spot during the earthquake of 85, and was put back up there where it belongs. I had never drove my bike in the biggest city in the world, whew.....new experiences, I don't usually drive at night either and I did drive around at night as well!

btw how did it occur to me to stay in Mexico City on the 30 year anniversary of the 1985 earthquake, made me a bit nervous actually! And me in a big building too! haha many stories high, alot of these came down during that earthquake! 1,000s died.....really really horrible stuff! :yikes: They kept passing the videos and pictures of this on the TV and I actually lost alot of friends and family in this earthquake.....

Thanks for the pics. It looks like a great place to ryde in. Isn't it nice to meet other Spyder ryders and enjoy their company? It was good that BRP had such an event there.

Beautiful pictures. That is way too fast for group riding but I hope when you get together again that they slow down some.

They sponsor 1 ride a month, the next one is 2 days long, and after that 3 days long. I am NOT going to even try these, but when they have another 1 days "maybe" I will! haha, but yes, they are too fast for me too, but it is a lovely place to go riding in, I felt the group effect which was so very nice. It is a bit hard on me being on my own so much I think....it would be nice to have a riding buddy here...not on my own bike but on their own! haha

Group dynamics can make or break any ride. One must ride in their comfort zone to be safe. Glad no one hurt in the "incident."

I love the camaraderie of group riding, but there are some people here that I will not ride with because of "comfort zone" issues.

Yes I am glad I am ok and that at least I have enough driving experience to have avoided the problem. I learned too about my mistakes. Which I own up to completely.

Yes I won't ride with a few of these people again because there is really no need to go this fast, and besides that it is not really safe, no matter how well you drive. It is against the law as well.

hehe yes it was fun, but it wasn't spurts of speed, we did this for long periods, at 150 plus, so that was tough on me, I do spurts all the time, and I like that most, but it is just a personal thing I think! haha Thank you Chupaca!

I like spurts...80/85 sustained is good enough. Issue in Lima is cops can ghost write tickets, they never could catch us..didn't have to. Tag time was fun when they produced all those tickets and then some...lol

That was a close call with the guy who stopped in front of you. Glad you were able to pull it out. In the beginning of the clip, what was the deal with all the cops running around? Where they chasing someone or what?

Downtown (this is basically the cream of the crop when it comes to Mexico City, anywhere "important" like this (Pedregal, Roma, Coyocan, Centro) will have a gazillion cops, you would think they would worry more about the areas that need them, they are all friendly and nice, I had about 12 or so talk to me, some took pictures of me, and the bike, and they all let me stop here where it is not allowed because mostly I am a woman and because of the bike! haha so silly.

Yes Chupaca, 70 to 80 is great to me too! haha but ghost tickets....yikes, glad we don't have that here!

Don't care to be traveling that fast on a motorcycle. [emoji15]way!. I would be left behind and ride solo before trying that. Seen too many accidents when I was on the rescue squad. 75 to 80 I can live with on the freeway in good weather with riders I trust. That is about the limit for me.

Yes you are so right. Unfortunatly here there are not very many riders to choose from. So I most likely will continue to ride solo. Better safe than sorry.
