2015 Spyder RT Limited

I've done a search and read several threads/posts about making the Trunk cigarette lighter socket active full time as well as make it work at a higher amperage because I'd like to use the socket to power a 12volt mini-air compressor as well as plus use it for my battery tender/minder.

I saw where it talked about moving a fuse on the fuse panel to make it full time active but it didn't say how to make it a higher amperage for the mini-air compressor.....

How do I go about making the cigarette lighter socket in the trunk full time active AND increase the amperage so I don't blow the lower amp original fuse?

Thanks....

It only works on 2013 and later ST and RT models. Since you did not share that info I am not sure if you can do that. If you have a model that can do that the info is in your owner's manual.

Now that I know the year and model the info is on page 60. In the right fuse box. Note, the Spyders right not yours. Move fuse in slot 6 to slot 7. Count left to right as you are looking at it.

If I'm reading this correctly......it shows 1 amp output and if that is correct I think I'll need more than 1 map to power the mini-air compressor...
Here is the mini-air compressor I have coming to me...

Unless I have a weird concept of using a mini-compressor, mine is ONLY for use if I get a flat on the road. Therefore, since my compressor is rated at 7 amps and my battery tender is pig tail in the frunk connected directly to the battery is rated the same , I would use the SAE plug connector on the pig tail to power the compressor. I wouldn't have the guts to try the 5 amp rating of the trunk receptacle on a compressor drawing 7 amps although it probably could be done for a very short period with no wiring damage.

116683pigtail set-up is handy to work for multiple vehicles. Keeping track of is the only hassle. Most tenders offer a 116684cord you ca attach to battery year round & only plug tender up as you need it. Handy. Good for mowers & trailer queens (show cars)too.
