They say there is no such thing as a dumb question and hopefully this won't be the exception that proves the rule.

Question for those with trailer hitches on their spyders.... Do you leave the hitch attached or remove it when you are not going to be using it for awhile??

Treat me gently....

I usually take it off of my RT.
I only takes about 5 min. or less to take off or put on.

Just looks better without the hitch

We remove the hitch so I don't bump my shin on the ball and hitch!

I thought I would take mine off but I don't mind it on so I leave it on. Dosen't interfer with anything. It's personal preference.

Leave it on, never know when you might need it.

Would never consider removing the hitch. To me it acts like a rear bumper for the Spyder and I use it to haul the garbage cans out to the road each week (1/4 miles) as well as move my boat trailer (lightweight kayaks) around.

what it boils down to...your choice. Either way you only have shin bumping and looks to go on....:roflblack::roflblack: personally seeing both going down the road only tell me you pull a trailer if its on and maybe you do if its off... don't have a trailer or a hitch..if it doesn't fit in my pocket it dosen't go with me...:roflblack:

but be sure to dress it up. Spend two dollars and buy a black, ball cover from your local RV place. It "finishes" off the back end. When the trailer is hooked up, I keep the ball cover in a zip lock baggie in the trunk. When I disconnect, the cover is right there! Store the empty baggie in the trunk so it's always at the ready. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=112978&stc=1

I leave mine on and I have a nice light blue hitch condom. My hitch did protect me once when an idiot decided to hit me because a pickup truck behind him scared him. I never bump into the hitch but I wish I could say the same thing for the rear side marker light area on the trailer, I have banged my legs on this more times than I can count.

Wouldn't the hitch also give you a pretty decent anchor point; should you need to trailer your Spyder? :dontknow:

Leave it on. Too much trouble to take it off. It's an after market one. Makes it easy to use the trailer whenever I want, like taking cans, bottles, paper, etc., to the recycle center! My trailer is 85% utilitarian, 15% show. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?72427-My-versatile-trailer!&highlight=trailer

I think the back end looks better with the hitch on.http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=112996&stc=1
