Not complaining. Love my 08 GS. But the brakes squeak to a point where it's almost embarrassing. Dealer says it's unique to the 08s and that it's nothing to worry about. But does anyone know a way to quiet down these brakes?

The 08 came with semi-metallic brake pads. Very good stopping power, very noisy.

It is embarrassing but not a problem beyond that. You can get some CRC or similar brake pad spray. You can put CRC or similar quieting compound to put on the back of the pads. You can lightly sand the rotors. You can stop very hard multiple times to heat up and bed the pads again. You can pressure wash the pads.

But nothing will work for very long and the squeal will start to come back.

You'll have to change pads to get rid of the squeal permanently. Some work better than others.

My 09 RS had the same problem and it went beyond embarrassing! I know exactly what you mean. Paid the dealer to do something - didn't work. Tried other suggestions (all over this forum) - didn't work. Sold the bike (got an ST, love it) - new owner is a real motorbike afficionado and he later posted that the brake rotor was warped. Now whether I have got the 'brake rotor' bit right or wrong I'm not sure, but the big round bit of metal near the parking brake. This solved it completely. Hope you can interpret my non-mechanical gibberish (hubby is not home, he would know exactly what it's called).

Thanks Ron. Any recommendations on what pads to use?

Mine too! Squeak and Moan, I even adjusted alignment on back wheel several times, does not seem to help. I sorta wonder, if when they need changing, I could put an Organic "Softer Pad" on? I have 11 k only....

My cure has been to get some high pressure pipe gasket material ( from a pipe fitter buddy) and cut a piece to fit between pad and piston in caliper. Works on everything I put it on..............
