Hello!

My name is Matt and I am new 2014 RS-S rider from the Northeast Atlanta area (Duluth to be exact). I've been reading your forum here the last two weeks as needed since I bought my Spyder. So far I am very impressed with the interaction and practicality of the forum (one of the better forums I have belonged to).

It was somewhat impulsive that I got a Spyder, but I love it! My coworker bought a Cognac 2014 RT-S last year and I thought it was pretty cool, but never took interest myself. In May, I noticed a promotion from Harley-Davidson for free entry into the MSF Basic Rider Course for active duty military and veterans and jumped on it just to see if I liked riding. They use the Street 500s and it is a nice bike - although not quite my style. I had my eyes set on a 2013 or newer Honda NC700X or CB500X though.

However, I started to gather that my wife was not crazy about riding on the back of a two-wheeler, especially in Atlanta traffic. I'm not sure I am either.

So along came a Spyder (no pun intended) and it helped ease some of my concerns. I consider myself a pretty good defensive driver and realize the Spyder can be just as invisible to other drivers as a 2-wheeler. However, I love the Nanny features (as I am now learning they are called) about the Spyder that lower the risk of road hazards that I have learned can plague 2-wheelers. Although I will say with the bright yellow color and the fact that it's unique looking, people notice me more than I thought they would. I have to allot time for talking to people when I go somewhere because I've had a number of age ranges ask me about it.

Additionally, I am a disabled vet and do have knee problems that are not aggravated on the Spyder. Having to put my feet down all the time in Atlanta stop-and-go traffic would not be good for me.

Thank you for all the community content already available on this site and I look forward to contributing whatever I can as well. I'm a tinkerer as well and have already added fog lights, passenger backrest, 12volt adapter and still going.

Here's my ride:
