I think I am getting brake dust on my wheels because they get dirty very fast. I tried several aluminum wheel cleaners and none work without a lot of elbow grease and sweat. Anyone know of something that works without tremendous effort?

I get both brake dust and belt dust but as dust it just wipes away or blows away. If you get it wet it can be pesky. I wipe if off before I clean the wheels...

I jack mine up and use a soft brush and wash and wax. To clean the rear tire and rim I put it 1st gear to spin the rim and tire . Then I use the brush to do the spokes and hose it off. I do the same the front and turn the wheel by hand. I clean the tread also. When it dries I polish the rims and put on the tire treatment, I also do the tread. That's IMHO.

The plain Tuttle Wax car wash soap I use on the Spyder does a great job. I just do the wheels last with the wash mitt. Yeah, it's a bit of a PITA rolling the trike back and forth and turning the front wheels to get both inside and outside of rims and about 1/3 of the rear wheel and sprocket at a time but the soap does a good job.

Black wheels for me, they are the color of brake dust.

Once you get them real clean, give them a coating of Armour All Wheel Protectant. They rinse clean next time without any harsh cleaners.

Thanks for the advice.

I had a BMW 328 that had a big problem with brake dust. I got some brake dust Shields to fix it. I don't know if anything like that exists for spyders.

You have a lot of good answers... we use Meguiars Aluminum Wheel Cleaner... easy to use... squirt it on... let set then hose it off (really well). Makes my wheels look brand new.
