I have decided to take the leap and get on a spyder! I have narrow it down between an 2012 rts and and 2014 rts. Slight differance in price but not bad. Please your thoughts. GO!

Pluses for the 2014

1330 engine (also less maintenance which means less costs)
6 speed transmission
15" tires
More comfortable seat
More stable gauges
Resale value much much higher
2 years newer
Better Brakes

I liked my 2012, but i loved my 2014

:welcome:I've also got to "vote" for the 2014...
As good as the 2012 might be: the 2014 will be as good or better, in virtually every major component and how they function together.

Love the twin and would go for it always..that being said your looking at the RT and therefore even a twin lover like myself will suggest the 2014 for sure. There are advantages and though short time in the market they are a great touring machine... good luck and looking forward to welcoming you to the spyder world...

I do not own a spyder YET, so take it for what it's worth. I am a research junky. i can't even buy a toaster without doing 30 hours of research about which is the best and why. that's just how I'm wired.
so, if it means anything to you, we are going with the 2014 rt-s. i like everything i have read about it compared to other years. also, we want the s rather than the limited because the limited does not offer anything more that we would be interested in. gps and chrome... no thanks.
i know you didn't ask about s vs limited, just threw that part in there as a bonus.

happy riding!!!!!

Oh yeah!!! The 2014 RT. I bought a 2014 RTL lady September. My only regret is there are not enough hours in a day to ride 😀 The Big Dawg (her name) is great. I have no experience with other Spyder so I can't be objective, but when it comes to the Big Dawg, who wants to be objective?

If you can afford either/or, I would recommend the new 1330 engine version. I have a 2011--same as the 2012 set up--and a 2014 RT-S. The difference between the two is night and day. Good luck on your hunt. Let us know what you finally decide.

Yes the 2014 is the way to go. Less maintenance, bigger engine, lower rpm's, better gas mileage.

Test drive both of them. The 1330 w/- 6-speed will settle the score. You won't be disappointed. Good luck!

Now that you've read all these posts you'll be smart and just get the '14-15 RT with the 1330 motor and all the other goodies you get on the S or the Ltd.
Our YELLOW '14 rt-s IS GREAT
