On Friday afternoon a drag race was held on the fairgrounds. That created a restricred venue but one that appeared to enjoyed by most. It was an old school, 180 yd dash with no timers or lights. All matches were best of three, changing lanes for each pass. 4 classes were run: RT, ST, RS/GS, and F3. Not a lot of participanrs. The names of the winners will be announced tonight at the banquet. But as a sneak preview I am satisfied to report that my F3 came out on top by a nose or more, losing only 2 passes all event. One to SpyderDeb's ST Ltd and one to Spyder Pop's F3-S.

Also, curious why you all only ran 180 yards. That's not even an 1/8th mile.....

They had to use the rest for shut down. Also, for pull off, if anyone went up in flames.

They didn't rent the drag strip this year. They were going to run them on one of the service roads at the fairgrounds.

Guess we still don't know anything. 180 yards is not a drag race, it is a launch test.

Just sayin'...........

For the hypercritical purist, indeed it was not a quarter mile drag race with a tree, meters and time slips. It was competition to get to end of a distance that the crew had to work with. Mine registered 66 mph on the GPS max speed capture in that distance. Mess up at the start line and you didn't get the win.

The RTs with both motors were quite close over that distance - kind of leveled the playing field.

As far as the ST win, it's called me screwing up at the line and not enough distance to run it down.

Ps: that leaves you some room at Spyder Quest to set the record straight.

Harvey arrived late but was undefeated in grudge matches until he was beat by a woman. :roflblack::roflblack: But he had so much fun I don't think he minded.

It didn't seem to matter to the crowd watching just how long the race was. It was a fun event to see. Well done by the organizers!

Was the 1330 stronger off the line, and then getting reeled-in? :dontknow:

So do they only run like model against each other? It's not open forum:( Guess that's fair but not what I envisioned when thinking about what bike is faster?

With it's lower gearing; I suspect that the F-3 would have eaten everybody's lunches... :D

To be clear, he did not win all of the grudge matches. My F3 took 3 of 4 runs, one of which was SpyderDeb on my F3.. All runs were veryclose. Wheel spin at the start was an issue with all of the F3s.

Sounds like abuse of perfectly good Spyders. Hope it doesn't affect any warranty claims you might have later on.

A couple of hard runs through the gears won't hurt the bikes a bit. :D
