2011 R TM . 32000 miles.
Showing the same error code again. @ 25226 miles had to be towed to local dealer. Repair was a intermittent sticking purge valve. Replaced valve.
Question would be: Would the canister ectomy be a good fix?
Been dealing with gas smell for some time.:banghead: xc
Bike was running great when the alarm showed.

P0174 is a lean condition on cylinder 2. Canisterectomy might fix it. Did they put it on BUDS to troubleshoot it? Lean could be a bad injector.

Also had a couple of times with the "orange screen" and code 174 on our 11 RT SM-6. Our local tech was persistent and visited with BRP and other techs and we have had 2 throttle bodies replaced under warranty. Now are at a little over 65,000 miles and the last time it appeared they replaced the O2 sensor and the canister. While not a fan of running around with the "check engine light" on it seemed to be running okay, and temps were normal, so we rode it until our appointment and we could get it in. I do think that keeping revs above 3500 to ensure the purge valve is opened, and avoiding over filling the tank, helps prolong the life of the charcoal canisters,,, JMHO.

Bike is still under warranty till July of 2016.
Dealer is supposed to look at bike May 7.
Last repair took 2 weeks. Had to order the valve.
Wasn't happy. Bike was sitting in the rain and had a dead battery.

Would a cracked vacuum line make the bike run a bit lean? :dontknow:
They're famous for cracking, and making the bikes run wonky...

Hate being without the bike for 3-4 weeks. Wait 2 weeks for appointment then actual repairs and approval from b r p for repairs. Hate it. Bike is my ride to work.

perhaps it remaped the mixture and got it right this time. Gotta say these machines do have lapses of memory...keep an eye on it for a while....:ohyea::ohyea:

Riding home Thursday and the error is back.
Did the canister bypass. When for ride and the check engine message is showing.
Not showing any error codes now.
What the hay?
So reconnected the canister.
But still showing check engine with no error codes.
Guest stuck with the dealer repairs.
Hate how they treat service.

Since my first 3k service on my 14RTS I've been battling the P0174 code. I'm now at 8k and it's still and issue. Local dealer been trying to communicate with BRP with little success up until now. I called BRP with my vin # and got the preverbal run around with zero answers to any of my questions. I mentioned buy back time was approaching so they'd better get on the stick and help the dealer solve the problem. The next day I called the dealer who told me still no communication with BRP. I called BRP again and was treated very well the second time. All my questions and more were answered without hesitation. That second call to BRP was an example of A-1 customer service. I called the dealer back and was told info from BRP was being received as we spoke and parts were being shipped ASAP. When my issue with P0174 is solved I'll post the results and what the fix was.

When you did the canister bypass, did you leave the purge valve connected? It has to stay connected, but serves no function without the Canister. I vented mine to the back of the Spyder. Like you I had intermittent P0174 until I removed the Canister, and no codes since.

Left the purge valve connected and put a plug in the short hose that was attached to it.

Take the plug out, and run a line to the rear of the bike...

It couldn't hurt to give it a try...

Sounds like you did it correctly to me. One thing that I tried before removing the canister, was to swap the O2 sensors from one pipe to the other, to see if the code changed to the other pipe. The problem could also be a bad O2 sensor. When I did that nothing changed, so that is when I decided to remove the canister. The nice part about loosing the canister, is that it removes the potential gas bomb that was supposedly fixed by insulating the canister. When they had checked my canister, it had partially melted. After that, I got nuthin. :dontknow:

Just wondering if you still have the syder that had the p0174 code that you did the cannisterectomy on and if it was still working
. Have you had anymore problems? Thanks
