View Full Version : Have any experience with Mo-Door garage door opener

Since switching to the F3, I no longer have a "glove box" to store the garage door opener. I've been keeping it in my pocket, but I have several coats, so if I happen to forget to move it from one coat to another, I get to hop off and enter the garage code and then hop back on. I wanted to find a solution, and after reading a different thread about the flash2pass opener and doing a little more research on them, I opted to NOT take the risk of using that system. I found some positive stuff on mo-door and I like the way that it integrates with my garage door opener -- same as my car which has a built-in switch where it just learns the code and you're done.

Wondering if anyone here on SL has experience with them?

I have a "Crib Clicker" on my Spyder that works with the high beam switch. Same principle, as the Flash-2-Pass one, I'd guess. It works well, but it was expensive.

But here is a very inexpensive alternative, and easy to do. Pick up any inexpensive programmable garage door opener from Amazon (or anywhere) that will work with your door, or use one you already have. Then get a small momentary push-button switch, like those pictured below. Now solder a small twisted pair of wires to the push-button and mount it in any convenient location on your F3. You only need to drill a small hole. Open up the garage door opener and solder the other end of the wires across the terminals for the push button on that. Hide the garage door opener somewhere under the tupperware, where you can get at it whenever you need to replace the battery. I did this on my last bike and the battery lasted for years.

See what brand garage door opener you have and then call them or go to the web site and see if they sell a mini opener. I got 2 mini openers for my house....one for walking the dogs and the other goes on my mc jacket zipper. Just one idea. It would be nice though to have a button on the Spyder to push too :spyder2:

I'm using an old school opener but seems to work pretty good but can be finicky sometimes. Check it out!

This pretty much the number one idea in use. I have it on my RS-S and have used on 3 other bikes.

I was looking at this to see if it was one that could be put in the blank spot on my RT where the rest of my switches are.
I'm not sure that will work though.

hate to admit it, but I care less about expense than soldering wires :) I will probably go for the MO-DOOR option -- it's pretty much the same as the inexpensive option (without the soldering). I'll report back on how it goes for me, but it won't be right away since I've got some other priorities at the moment.

I use a mini garage door opener that hangs from a clip on my belt.

Guess I'm old school too, but my opener isn't as sleek as that one...:shemademe_smilie:
