We have a '14 RTS. Trying to figure out what we need to have a communication system between just the 2 of us. Dealer said that the bike was blue tooth enabled, but he didn't know what that meant. Can't find documentation on it either.

The bike is not Blueetooth enabled. You can buy Bluetooth communication/intercom headset for the helmets. You can also buy Bluetooth system if you want your helmets to communicate with the motorcycle sound system which would make your bike Bluetooth enabled.

Bluetooth enabled means that your bike has the ability to send a wireless single to a wireless head set that you would have on your helmet, it can also pair your phone and some other devices. as far as communicating to each other a lot of people use the sena or scala wireless head sets to talk. this is a link to one of our members http://www.motorcycledave.com/sena-headsets he sells the sena sets and this is a link for the scalas http://www.cardosystems.com/scala-rider

If you can find a size that fits leatherup.com is blowing out the torc t12b which has built in bluetooth so no wires or packs on the side of your helmet and it has the drop down sunvisor and ece approved for $100. My brothers 2012 RT doesnt have bluetooth but if the new ones do you should be able to shoot the RT radio to your helmet instead of using your phone like most of us, but you still would not be able to talk to each other unless you both got BT helmets. Mine works great for music and phone. i love the helmet to helmet but it really only works up to about 35mph bike to bike which is really all you need so that when you pull up to stop signs or lights you dont have to scream to your buddy about which way should we go or should we stop now etc.

My wife and I use the Sena SMH10 headsets. They work great, one touch to switch from conversations to a phone call, plus listening to music is easy. Highly recommend them. They aint cheap, but I think it makes a huge difference in enjoying the ride. I might be alone, but I like talking to my wife while riding. We are both way to sarcastic about everyone else on the road to not be able to talk to each other. LOL

From Wikipedia:

The word "Bluetooth" is an anglicized (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglicisation) version of the Scandinavian Blåtand/Blåtann, (Old Norse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Norse) blátǫnn) the epithet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epithet) of the tenth-century king Harald Bluetooth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harald_Bluetooth) who united dissonant Danish tribes into a single kingdom and, according to legend, introduced Christianity as well. The idea of this name was proposed in 1997 by Jim Kardach (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jim_Kardach&action=edit&redlink=1) who developed a system that would allow mobile phones to communicate with computers. At the time of this proposal he was reading Frans G. Bengtsson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frans_G._Bengtsson)'s historical novel The Long Ships (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Ships) about Vikings and king Harald Bluetooth.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#cite_note-EETimes-8)[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#cite_note-9) The implication is that Bluetooth does the same with communications protocols, uniting them into one universal standard.[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#cite_note-sysopt-10)[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#cite_note-BTooth-11)[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#cite_note-12)

Dude, that was an awesome explanation. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. Never stop posting. You may know things that the rest of us don't know.

And all this time I thought it was the one wisdom tooth talking to the other til it turned blue. Really---Not really!

We have Sena bluetooth headsets for communication and listening to the 665 GPS XM, Traffic, Phone etc. Great way to go. All my computers and TV's are bluetooth and Smart capable. No wires anymore.
