The sun is shining on the outdoor thermometer and it indicates a temperature of 4 degrees f. The wind is gusting up to 40mph.
Poor Spyder is shivering outside under a cover with a battery tender connected.
Have a memorial service piping gig this afternoon in full highland attire. What to do? Suck it up, perform as best as I can and collect my fee? Or stay home and load pistol ammo?

could do. that would take care of 1 problem. but I've never played when it is this cold. my concern is the pipes. how will they like the cold temps? what kind of tones will come out of them? will my old arthritic fingers be able to actually move?

Frozen ears will not notice..:roflblack: once you get going all will go well. A few hot highland whisky totties will get you all started...

Some good ideas posted below. Be careful of frost bite. It is pretty cold and it might be good to give the bagpipes a pre-test to see if you are going to run into glitches.

I would opt for loading pistol ammo... one NEVER has ENOUGH pistol ammo..

my underground air pipes are frozen today, trying to run 160 degree hot air through them to open them up & the
sidewalk in front of my door lifted up 1 inch.

I was in Yuma Arizona over the weekend and it was nearly 90. It feels good to be back in Vegas where the high today will be 73.

Our current temp is -10/ sunny real feel-28, Wind chill warning until 7:00 pm tonight all of northern NY, and central/northern VT.

The national weather service in BTV has Wind chill watch warnings out. Wind chill temps -25 to -30 below through mid-afternoon, dress in layers if going outside, keep pets in side, frostbite/ hypothermia may occur. This is our first very cold weather we have had, this season. To cold to go out.

Here in Vermont we have you all beat for the temps.

But the temps this week are going to be in the 30's to 40's snow/rain. Deanna
