26 is about what you should expect.

It really all depends on the amount of fun that you let your right wrist have with the "loud grip".
With my 2010 RT; I usually averaged 33 mpg... That always seemed to be on the high side of reported mpgs.

The reson for my question is because my Wife and I took a trip to Daytona 65 miles, we started with a full tank and when we got there the gas guage read just under 1/2 tank and there was a slight smell of gas. we had the cruise control on at 75mph so if my calculations are correct i was only gettng 19.6. are there any recalls for gas smells

Remember; these things are just about like pushing a big-ole barn door down the road... nojoke
Try dialing your speed back to 70, and see if that helps!

Mileage is going to be all over the board. I pretty much got/get 31 mpg across the board on all the 990's that I have owned. Have received as low as 27 and as high as 37. It all depends on driving conditions, wind, etc. etc. etc. Most times, I come up with 31 on the 2011--the sole remaining 990 in my stable.

The 1330 has been much better on mileage. I get a consistent 39 - 41.

We run the 990 in the 5500 rpm range and the 1330 in the 3500 rpm range. Do not consider myself to be aggressive on either, but akspyderlady says I go fast on the 1330.

I have a 2010 RT as well.

Make sure you have the new larger gas cap. It was sent out free of charge.

Here is a video on the install as well to assist you http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?48932-Spyder-Gas-Cap-video-install&highlight=recall

My own gas mileage is 19-24 mpg city highway avg.

FWIW:
When filling the Spyder with gas, here in California the fuel hose nozzles has to be constantly trickled in to get maximum capacity, not sure how the nozzles are in Florida, most other states don't have all the air quality restrictions and so it is much easier to fill.

I am heavy on the foot/grip, always take off fast , I am ok with the mileage. I stop on a long trip every 100-125 miles anyhow to stretch.

I saw your question in the chat section, and see you knew how to post a question in a thread

Two up and 75 mph will suck up gas quicker than usual. That could be one reason.

Gas smell was addressed above.

on my 2010 RTS I avg 31/33 mpg that's running 50/55 mph On the 14 I avg38 mpg. A lot will depend on how hard you get into the gas and the speed you run. On the 10@ 75 mph 1 up my mpg was 26/ 28.

Last time I checked the 2012 was getting 28 mpg. Being you are new to the 2010 keep the RPMs around 5,000 for best results.

I've got a 2012 RT and I generally get 28 to 30 MPG. That is with a mixture of riding in the city and highway, and also 1 and 2 up riding I usually go about 75 on the highway, and around 7 MPH over the speed limit around town. I don't worry about what kind of mileage I am getting, but I always check it when I'm gassing it up. The important thing is to have fun!!!!

If you don't want to slow down, or lighten the load, then:

1. Use non-ETOH gas (it will take two full tanks to clean you system out, and allow the oxy sensor to adapt.)
2. Delete the CAT, and use an aftermarket exhaust, like the Yosh R77.
