My wife and I have decided to pick up a 2010 RT-S. We'll likely have the deal wrapped up next wknd. I've tried to do a bit of homework, but I haven't seen much regarding the 2010 models. Any insight? Sorry, this might be a repeat, I think my other post got lost in an existing thread....

I put many a trouble free mile on my 2010 RT - it's a great ride. Make sure all the services have been done and documented, see if there's still any extended warranty left, and prepare to enjoy.

You may want to consider a set of Seal Floorboards for it - especially if it's an SE.

Mine has a little over 26K, slowed down due to age, but basiclly trouble free. I bought a comfort seat because of my height, 6 foot 1

Just traded in my 2010 Rt S. No real problems with it.
The Electronic Information Center was changed out under warranty when I had the dealer install BRP CB/Comm system due to compatibility issues. A 2011 unit was installed.
I would not buy BRP CB/Comm system again.
At 18600 miles I had to change the two small vacuum hoses located at the front and top of the motor as they were cracked and dried out which caused the spyder to run rough and stall.
Once the hoses were replaced the spyder ran great again, just a maintenance item hoses cost $13.00 CDN each not a big deal.
I had no real issues with the motor or the spyder parts them selves. Watch how you remove the left side panel to check oil as the tabs break easy . The panel will fall off if not reinstalled correctly.
The rubber grommets will fall of the body panels. To avoid this just give them a dab of a lubricant to make them slide easy into their respective holes. I always carry extra grommets and also have used velcro to hold panels in place when grommets not with me.


I traded my spyder in because I wanted to get a new 2015 spyder with the new motor, no other reason than that.

36,500 mostly trouble free miles. I added Seal Floorboards and a Corbin seat with a backrest.

There was a EFI reboot early on to help with starting hot. My shift linkage screw came off one time. These were the only issues I experienced.

My 2010 was traded on the 2014 RTS last April. The 2010 went to Fairbanks to continue her life.

Check out the service record, double check if any extended warranty. You should be good to go once you know the answers.

I believe that the reason you haven't seen much on here about the 2010 RT is that there weren't a lot of problems with them. Get a dealer to look up the records on it. If it looks good, then go for it. I have enjoyed my 2010 RT for 4 years.

The 2010 RT S I had was a good bike. 25,000 trouble free miles. I traded last year for a '14 RT S . Got the itch and wanted the triple 1330.
Loved that 2010 tho. Enjoy it. Here is the 2010 I had.

I have about 65,000 miles on my 2010 rt. No really major problems. At 38,000 miles had front end bushings changed, 48,000 miles the ball joints were replaced. I have just had the clutch replaced. I do not consider any of the above as major issues; I love my Spyder and I have no plans to make a change. It ha never let me down. I would have more mileage but have lost almost a year of riding due to illness.

Enjoy your new ride.:thumbup:That's not just a 2010 problem; my 2012 had exactly the same symptoms at about 19,000 miles. My dealer replaced them under warranty, and she ran beautifully again. Still walking tall at 24,500 miles!

you picked a good one. Just make sure with dealer that all updates, bulletins etc have been done. Pictures when you have them and you both enjoy the ryde..:2thumbs::ohyea:

Signed the paperwork yesterday, and the dealer is delivering our "new to us" toy Friday afternoon. Pretty dang excited. Too bad it's gonna be 20* when he drops it off. Old mother nature has been a real crab-ass all winter. No snow for snowmobiling. Now that we have this coming, I'm sure it'll snow into June!:banghead:

I feel your pain, but hang in there. It will be worth it once the warn weather arrives.
