Hello all my fellow Spyderlovers,

It is with a sad heart that I must report that we have lost a member of our Spyderlovers family.

Mike Such , or Someguy as he was known out here, passed away at his home over the weekend due to multiple organ failures.

Mike and I became fast friends after meeting up at Scotty's (Nancy's Toy) for a gathering. From then on we became riding buddies and rode and roomed on many trips to Spyderfest, Spyders in the Smokies and of course Lamont's BBQ's.

Mike was a character for sure.. as anyone who met him can attest to. He liked to be in the thick of things, joking and having fun... something we all need to do!

I'd like this thread to be dedicated to Mike and for everyone to share a funny story about Mike if you have one......

Thanks.

We are so sorry to hear of this loss. SomeGuy was quite the character. We first meet him and Firefly (Dan) at Spyders in the Smokies and looked toward to our visits every year at Spyder gatherings. So glad we were at the same motel at Spyderfest last year and got to hangout with him and SomeGirl. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will be be greatly missed.

I'm equally at a loss here. It sucks getting older and seeing people you care about pass on. Spent enough time with Mike - breaking bread and riding that he, among others were the only reason I cared to go to the rallies. That chance to hang out with him was worth the ride and time.

I forget the year, but we rode with Reggie and crew up to the Snake from Maggie Valley. After riding across that valley floor and riding up the other ridge we stopped at the top and waited... and waited... and waited for the others to catch up.

After a while we thought we heard the sound of Rotax's making their way up the hill so we decided to be funny and be caught in a full on romantic embrace by the others... Problem was that it wasn't rotax engines purring up the hill, but a gaggle of mixed Harleys and other bikes. Busted. We did that three times hoping to humor the group when they caught up... Pretty sure Flamingo Babe caught us wen she was coming down the hill from the opposite way.

We vowed that if we could plan it for the next ride, we'd hire a couple of "bikini models" to meet us at the top of the mountain with drinks, a table and chairs, and a deck of cards, so that when we were come across we'd be playing poker while getting back rubs by some scantily dressed girls and we's act like it was completely normal.

So long SomeGuy. You will be missed my friend.

I had just gotten my Spyder and the Michigan riders were heading to Hell for lunch. Mike, Firefly and SpyderSteve were nice enough to meet me at a gas station and let me ride along with them. That was the start of a wonderful relationship with Mike. What a super sweet guy. He always had a smile on his face and his trademark tie dyed t shirts.

Like WackyDan said he was one of the people that you just really, really wanted to spend time with at Spyder gatherings. I will certainly miss him. My condolences to his family and to SomeGirl. RIP my friend you will be missed.

Dan, really sorry to hear this. I know you two were very good friends. I met the both of you several times at Spyderfests and also Lamont's BBQ and enjoyed visiting with the both of you. Mike was always good for a lot of laughs. Just a real pleasure to be around.
Last year at Spyderfest, Seth talked me into running down the drag strip by myself for a couple of runs, since I had never done it before. After two runs on my own, and feeling a little more confident in myself, I pulled up to the starting line for another run by myself. Looking to my right, another Spyder pulls up along side of me. Thinking to myself, "now I'm in real trouble." We both take off together, and I did beat my competition. So coming down the return road, I was ahead of him. So we get back to the staging area, and Mike pulls up next to me and says "Larry, didn't know it was you, till I seen your plate." I said "Same here, I was just practicing, .......want to go again ??? So I will always remember Mike, for being my first competitor on the drag strip.
Then I raced Seth a couple of times, but I'm not saying how those came out.
Rest in peace, Mike, and prayers go out to your wife and your family.

This has not been a good year.

First I lose a good friend in Larry (Littlebadwolf), then my beautiful wife Connie, and now Mike.

The last time I heard from Mike was after I had lost Connie. He told me he had lost his job but mentioned nothing of any physical complications. He did say we needed to get together, that there was a lot to talk about. Unfortunately I was so caught up in my own misery that encounter never took place.

RIP my friend.

FireFly, thanks for the news, sad as it is...

I first got to know Mike at Spyders in the Smokies. One night at Smoky's, sat at a table with Mike and four other quick witted people. Laughed so hard my stomach hurt the next day.

********

Everyone was staying at the Red Roof Inn in Gatlinburg for SITS. The Red Roof is up a steep hill, at the bottom of the hill was Smoky's. Good food and cold beer. Across the lane from Smoky's was a gas station with a cop waiting for 'someone who had imbibed' to get on their Spyder and drive off. If you were drinking, you walked up and down the hill.

Can't remember how this came about, but it was dark, Mike, RTGene and me were up at the Red Roof. We all were ready to go down to Smokies. Gene was going to ride. That left Mike and me to walk, until Mike came up with this wonderful idea. We can all ride down on Gene's RT!

Gene had his helmet on ready to ride. We didn't. Gene was sputtering about helmets, three people on a RT and how totally illegal this is. We piled onto Gene's Spyder and away we went. Gene about ready to have a heart attack.

We turned a corner going down and sure enough, there was the cop. A quick counsel and it was decided Mike and I would bail off before Gene got to the lights of Smoky's parking lot. Gene knew for sure he was going to get a big ticket, but it was his lucky day.

With Mike around, there was always adventure...

We corresponded here on SpyderLovers for months, and we hit off right away. Then I met Mike for the first time in Cuba, our first Spyder gathering in 2009, the beginnings of SpyderFest,,,,he kept telling me he could not come,,,Thanks for playing along Dan,lol,,,then there he was sticking his chest out in front of me with his Tie-Dye Shirt,, did not recognize him at first, the others were all laughing,,,,
The fun and laughter we had around the pool at Spyders in The Smokies,,,, yes my stomach hurt bad from laughing so much,, the Hot Dog incident,,I remember that bear cub in our hall,,, 2 doors from our room,,,we all bonded immediately, the Ski Lift up to the top of the mountain,, we had a lot of fun on those kiddie rides, and just goofing around.
Mike stopped by at the house last year, coming from SpyderFest on his way home,,,,such a good time we had...
He always had something funny to say,,,I will miss him a lot

Godspeed Mike!
I forget which event, but at breakfast one morning he and his wife joined us at the table. After a huge meal, we asked what room he was in. He casually mentioned the number, but what cracked us up was that it was at another hotel! He had a sharp wit, and such a great outlook! He will be missed. Joe

Reading this thread is a trip down memory lane. I too, met Mike at SITS. What a great evening with him and others at the Red Roof as Yazz tutored us on eating hot dogs. I was with Mike and Dan when he was brandishing the whip around North Carolina and Tennessee. . What a great guy. He was always so happy to see everyone and always had nice things to say. And those god aweful tiedye Tshirts! It was his trademark.

I spent a few hours with Mike, Dan, Yazz, and Steve at Smokies Bar also. What a great time!! He kept us laughing all the time with his stories and quick wit.
As others have said, I always looked forward to seeing him at Spyder events! He always had a smile on his face and a funny story.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him!

I first met Mike in Spyderfest 2013 and became friends immediately. He was always a very happy positive person. The best day we had we did the Bikes on the Bricks in Flint, we had a great time and he stayed until late in the night. Mike was proud of the fact that he had attended every Spyderfest. At Spyderfest 2014 he helped me and Cruzr Joe do a modification to my spyder and on Friday night was there to party with us. I will miss him as a friend and am sorry to here of his passing. My wife and I send you all of our prayers for Carol (some girl) and the family.

The picture attached show his trademark of tie-dyed. For the Michigan meet and greet that I am putting together on March 28th I am going to make the theme tie-dyed in honor of Mike (some guy).

Some Guy , will miss you my man. Great sense of

humor as evidenced in this thread he created. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?54380-Naming-our-Spyders

He had over 1600 replys on threads here, and

thats how I knew who he was, when I met him

at Spyderfest, got to tell him how original his

name here was, didn't want to learn his or Fireflys

real names as it would be too confusing to remember

that this Mike said this and not the other 3 Mikes I

know, So really liked the use of handles here. I mean

how many Fireflys, NancysToys, G-Man or Bumble Bee's

do you know?!

Now do understand that if I'm gonna loan you money,

I want your Birth name, a blood sample and for you to

wear a leg bracelet! Just so I know your not in Vegas spending the money I lent you.:D

But for talking Spyders the handles suit me fine. ( My brain is already at capacity )
