Now that is very nice. Is it priced similar to the Slingshot? :roflblack::roflblack:

Going to be much more than any mere mortal can afford.

Guess we'll have to visit a museum to see one. :(

That would be vastly under estimated. Ford knows what the prior model cars are selling for and what its competition with much larger production rates is selling for.

They expect to build approx 1200 over a 4 year run. IE approx 300 per year. Less than 1 in ten DEALERS will even get one to sell. They will be sold as bespoke, prepaid orders only. No cars sitting on lots. MSRP is expected in the 400k range and dealer markups will push them to a half mil. With the VERY limited numbers, mere mortals will not be driving them.

Neat car, look forward to seeing one someday but unlike its predecessor, its NOT intended for the common man and I have no false hopes of bringing one home. Besides, it does not look like that very narrow cockpit will be very comfortable for someone my size.

They will start production mid to late 2016 as a 2017 model year and will sell greater than 100 during 2016 in order to qualify for LeMans.

Lots of neat new tech in the car that will trickle down the range in the next few years. CF body panels!

Its a normal reaction from a Government Motors owner. I am used to wiping drool from them off my car at shows. Usually whole rows of vetts that no one even gives a second glace too while they all converge around the only american supercar.

The article says $140K, but buyers will likely pay more.

I have been a ford fan most of my life, and owned quite a few in my day. Although I do think the car is interesting, I am old school and believe that it would have been easy to take the 5.8 that was used in the 13,14 GT500, modify it, and have it at 800+ hp. I know a lot has been done in the V6 world, but at only 600 hp, I am afraid it will be lunch for some of the Z06 vette people.

The article said the PREVIOUS generation hit with a $140k price tag. That was in 2004, the base price with no options and NONE sold for that low. They are selling today in the 280k range.

This is a 2017 model with much more tech. As I said, expected MSRP is in the 400k range and again, the few buyers that are given the 'opprotunity' to purchase one will likely pay WELL over MSRP.

I too would have preferred a larger V8.

None the less, I think your predictions of doom and gloom are short sighted. The current vette is MUCH heavier and has a MUCH higher center of gravity than the new GT. Vette is not even its intended competition. This GT is aimed squarely at Italy's and the UKs finest Supercars. Ferrari 458 and and Lamborghini Huracan. Also the HP is quoted as 600+. Engine development is not finalized for the production car and will be above that number. The 2013 GT500 engine was similarly advertised as 600+ when first announced. Ended up at 662 for production. We are more than a year away from production numbers. Ford's primary intent with this halo car is publicity. not sales.

I agree with you on all points. I know of 2 people that purchased the previous Ford GT. The first one paid $240k, and the other paid $190k. The upcharge on these cars is unreal. I have a problem with paying anything over msrp, no matter what type of vehicle it is. As for the Z06, they are not in the same class as the Ford GT, but are rated at 650 hp, with a very small blower. I plan to see those upgraded with a Kenny Bell, or turbo, and making in excess of 800 hp in no time. Consider this, there are many 2011-2014 5.0 mustangs out there that are making 650+ hp right now, and all it took was a blower and supporting hardware. My nephew just purchased a 2013 GT500 with the 662 hp. I told him, he will never have the fastest car, and if he did, there is always a better driver. He learned the hard way on his first weekend and lost to a 430 hp LS3 Vette, simply because he couldn't control, or drive his 662 hp stang.

:agree: The top of the Performance pile is a very precarious place...

People are all talk till they have driven one of the new high powered Mustangs....even then...driving one on a track and seeing what it really has (with experience of course) is a whole different story. :)

Stop light to stop light says nothing about driving skills. Lol

Strap on 750 HP and hold on for 20-30 minutes non stop around a track and tell me what it feels like.
