Believe it or not--that is how I got my husky dog Foxy. She was a member of a mushing team (in Wisconsin where I lived). She would lay down and "quit" after a couple miles--just like the OP picture showed. The owners did not want her for the team and were happy to give her away to a family that would appreciate her.

We shortly moved to Alaska where she lived the next 11 years out of her full 13 with me, as my "best friend." I still have her ashes and picture on a shelf with my other family pictures.
