tire repair kits

What's out there for emergency motorcycle tire repair kits/sealants. I noticed in auto parts store, some are only good for autos and not recommended for motorcycle tires.

Yepper... plus some sticky rope-type plugs is all you need.

I have used both the sticky rope type and the Stop & Go plugs. http://www.stopngo.com/motorcycle.asp I think the Stop & Go plugs work a little better, but are harder to get in. No tire plug is really suitable for motorcycle use. They will get you about 50 miles to someplace to replace the tire, but you will worry the entire way. Just not enough meat to support a plug well. The Spyder tires with their flatter and thicker tread may work better. I agree with the Slime compressor. Very handy, and the Spyder has sufficient room to store it.

JMHO... I found the Stop & Go plugs were easily cut in half by the tires' steel belts. That's why I'm back to the old-fashioned sticky thingies.

That's possible. I have never put more than 65 slow miles on a plug limping in to get another tire. Probably a toss up, the Stop & Go plugs cut in two, or the ropes wiggle their way out. Neither is worth a darn on a motorcycle tire. Strictly emergency measures.

We probably have 6,000 miles on a rear tire repair with those sticky rope plugs. Working well so far, no air loss. At over $300 (tire and install) to replace the rear tire, we are trying to milk it until the tire wear warrants replacing.
