Pulled the snorkel from the airbox. You will notice one side, the outside of airbox end, looks like velocity stacks...I left that side alone! The other side, the one inside the airbox...it's just 2 straight tubes. I cut that side back to the first rib to make some room for some hoses and popped the snorkel back in so the newly cut side is now the outside end. You will notice the snorkel has a molded angle to it, I popped it back in so points off to the right. I used flexible shop vac hoses, they pop right into the snorkel inlets. I pulled the shop vac hose through the right(riders position right) ram air inlet, and popped it into the RIGHT(riders right again)snorkel. I allowed for a little extra length, then cut the shop vac hose at the ram air inlet and pulled out the cut piece. I then sized it up against the remaining shop vac hose and cut another hose about 2 inches longer for some wiggle room around. The second piece is for the LEFT snorkel, it's a little longer if it has to work around the right hose. I washed out the hoses, even thought there is a filter. Popped both hoses into the snorkel and routed them to the exit side of the ram air inlet. I stack them on top of one another and pop the into the ram air scoop and sorta mold them into the triangular shape of the ram air exit. It's the stock filter so there was not a huge increase, but it helped. I am switching to "Kens Filter" and maybe boring a few extra holes in the after filter surface for an additional filter and airflow. I may seal the hoses together and cut a parabolic shape where the 2 hoses mate together. The hose is black so it looks like it should belong there...have fun!

I'll pull some panels and take some pics.

I followed sleepmans directions for hooking up a 3 inch duct pulled the snorkels out completely and used aluminum tape to make a smooth transition from the tube to the opening in the air box.

I also have a K&N air filter and 2 3/8" tuner muffler. All these combined, I can't get traction in first gear.

For fun...I bought one of the cold air intake 3 in. hoses at Pep-Boys last night...I used a hack saw to cut that last deflector portion of the inlet, right along the mold break, so all you have is a straight through triangular opening. Aside from the mounted rubber adapter ring, there's another adapter ring packaged inside the hose(be sure to look inside). It fits very snug over the triangular shaped intake...today I am going to try to either fit the associated hard mount adapter over the inlet face of the airbox, or use a threaded 3 in. PVC pipe coupler on the front face and fab a blocker plate to seal any gaps. I may just go with the PVC because the cold air adapter is a little large and may not fit...I may be able to fit 2 of the 3 in. PVC in the same place and have dual inlet pressure.

OK...well I almost gave up on the PVC(wanted the black), but nothing fit the cold air adapter...by accident, found the electrical PVC when looking for stuff to hand Christmas lights. The adaptor fits very tight over the 2 1/2 in. gray electrical PVC male/female theaded coupler. Hopefully there will be just enough room for a dual inlet.

Got the PVC mounted, there's not enough room for 2 PVC inlets of this size, so I mounted it in the middle. I just need to fab the blocking plate to seal the edges. The length of the PVC almost causes a problem with the fit, it eats more space than the "real" inlet plate and may be easier to mount. You may have to grind off some material or drill some different mount holes. The airbox material dremels off really easy, I made a mount stencil and ground off the semi-circles that allowed the PVC to slide through the inner airbox to the outer so the 2 halves can be screwed together. Fits very clean and snug when all reassembled.
I'll post pics soon.

Very soon!
In the first pic you see how I cut the deflector off the intake. You can see how the included rubber hose adaptors fit over both the intake and the PVC.

Looks good. I test fitted my tubing and forgot to cut off the deflector before I installed it on the bike. I think I noticed more of a difference at lower RPM's. My rear tire will break loose at about 2800 rpm in first. Before the cold air intake it was about 4,800 rpm. Let us know how yours runs.

I haven't fabbed the blocker panel yet, but man what a difference so far. The roll on power at freeway speed is the biggest difference I have noticed. The take off power is great too, but that roll on power is really noticeable. I may still bore a hole in the aft filter mount plate and add another filter, or cut the filter plate out all together and use one of the K&N cone filters. They manufacturer of the flex hose makes all sorts of adapters, one of them is a "Y" duct making Dual Ram Air possible again!

Great mod for direct air into the intake. I also added two hose on the opposite side and directed them into the engine department. Not sure what gains it will provide but the temp gauges runs three bars on the freeway instead of four now.
