I just got my Spyder early In July, It was a left over 2013 RED. I havn't had any problems with It at all, I love It and have put over 3500 miles on It. I rode Gold Wings for over thirty years but had knee surgery last winter and thought I better check out three wheels Instead of two, I'm glad I did. I just found this site last week so I thought I should join, I'm sure I will have many questions In the future from what I've read so far there are a lot of people on here that know a lot about Spyders..

Welcome to Spyder Lovers. The 'wing is a great bike. I had an 81 for a few years in the early 90's and then a 2005 GL1800 from 2006 until this past spring. 8 years and 52,000 miles with it. But when it comes to keeping it upright the Spyder has it beat to all h*** and is close behind when it comes to riding fun and comfort. My single biggest surprise when I moved over to the :f_spider: was the fact I really do not miss my Goldwing in the least, even as great a joy as it was to own.

I moved up to a big (1500cc V4) Yamaha Royal Star Venture touring bike brand new in 2001 and rode it for 12 years, and absolutely loved it. But then, last year, I bought my 2013 Spyder RT and actually enjoy it more (and ride it more). Two years ago, I would not have thought that was possible.

I know what you mean. Road Valkyrie's for 17+ years. Had a '97 with 137,000+ miles on it. Thought you couldn't kill the bike until I totaled it 2 years ago. Also had a '01 Wing for 2 years and traded it in on another '03 Valkyrie when I heard they were going to be discontinued. (That and when they quit producing the 4 cyl. Magna were 2 of the dumbest move Honda ever made.) The '03 was going to be my retirement bike, but only put a bit over 30,000 miles on it because the '97 just kept going and going and going until a woman pulled in front of me.

Those Valk's were/are an amazing bike.

Didn't think I'd ever want to ride anything else and then my wife kept talking to Spyder riders whenever we saw them anywhere and we sold her 800 Intruder and she bought an '013 RTS as a retirement present to herself last year.

1 year later I'm riding the '013 and I traded the Valk in on a matt gray '014 RTL for her. They only had 2 matt gray's, which she loved the color of and didn't have any White RTS or RTL's which I liked. So the '014 is her new, new retirement ride and I'm riding her old new retirement ride.

I even road bitch for her for over 2,000 miles on it before getting the '014. And that's ok, she road bitch on the back of those Valk's and a few other bikes for 40+ years for me, besides riding her own bike.

Put a comfort seat on '13 and I love it.

These are fun machines and GREAT rides!
