I am going to pick up my first spyder (RT-S) this afternoon. I have ridden bikes since 1949 so as an "old dog" I am looking forward to learning some new tricks :). Looking forward to meeting other riders in the So. Oregon area.

I have a 014 RTs l bought in July , have 3500 miles on it now. Just love getting on it and ride. I'm also a old dog at 70 years. I only live 45 miles north of you in Myrtle creek so let's get together sometime in the future.::yes:

Take 199 to Crescent City and back - By the time you get home, you will have adjusted to the Spyder. Taking it in small bytes is not the ticket. The Spyder IS different, and you need to push through the learning curve to get to the really good bits. Don't white knuckle the bars - try riding a bit with your hands open, and the grips resting in the web of your thumb, steering by pushing, rather than pulling.

After Crescent City, you might try the run to Lakeview, via Klamath Falls.....

You live in a great part of the state to really enjoy your RT.

Thank you for the advice. I got in a 100 miles yesterday and am starting to get smoother in the corners. Have ridden 2 wheel since the late 1940's so the feel is quite different :). I do enjoy the Spyder the more I ride.

I had just learned and was using counter-steering when I bought my Spyder. BIG diff in the corners

It's a lot like flying - just let the Spyder do the work for you.. you're just the guide....
